Can the militia have planet defenses?

I'm trying to make a map where a few of the planets have the usual militia NPCs defending it, but I'd like a few gun placements, hangar bays and repair tatical items to spawn when the map does.

I've tried playing with it, but they don't spawn...what am I missing?

Thank you in advance,

Kaashar

Check out the GalaxyScenarioDef file. The templates at the bottom have militia defences in.

IIRC, I was doing a map in GalForge a bit back... In the templates you could assign to a planet were a couple that had the planet actually settled by the neutrals, planetary defenses and all. I also know through poking around these templates are editable, making addition of weapon platforms or fighter bays possible.

I know for a fact it was quite a surprise when I popped into the system I had assigned the template to with my begin game little fleet and was greeted by a full fledged navy and defense network...

The templates are where I would start looking...

Mmmm... just reading back to your question: "they don't spawn...what am I missing?", I forgot to add that the Militia force HAS to be the owner of a planet. You can't have a neutral planet with defences, it must be owned by the militia.

I'd love to see a militia map where their planets get tougher and tougher to crack. I think assigning capital ships that are bound to the gravity well and supported by repair bays, turrets, and strike craft, would be a fun challenge.

That's what I was trying to remember... And exactly the truth of it.

Thanks Uzii!

So how do you define the militia as owner of a planet in GalaxyForge?

Sorry, out of my field of expertise, I don't use GF.

I haven't messed with GF much since it's initial release, but I could never figure out how to do that.

Uzii is correct that "Militia" is an actual ownership and they much have planet ownership for static defenses to be possible, but I was never able to make it work.

The game has no pre-made maps where this is the case, so I made one with the in-game generator and turned the Militia slider all the way up, found a planet that had static defenses, then looked at the map in GF/notepad and it didn't even have templates attached to that specific planet, or anything to indicate that it was set up for Militia ownership.

Right, you could choose Militia out of the templates, but there is only a chance to have the Militia be the planet owner. So, one has to make a own template for this case otherwise it won't fire i guess. Anyone able to post a how-to?

Thank you for the responses, I've at least got some things to follow up on now.

I like your idea Retro. I and my friends play co-op against the 'bots. I think it'd be more fun if any non-asteroid got progressively stronger as you went along. It'd definately add a new element to the game.
