I recently ran into an unfortunate problem trying to uninstall the demo version of the game.
I'd downloaded, installed, and played the demo for a few days, then decided to buy the full game.
No problems with installing the game or running it - note that I didn't uninstall the demo before putting in the full game. I also noticed, and appreciated, the fact that all my graphics/ui settings moved over from the demo automatically.
After a few more days, I think, why keep around this 1 GB of demo for no reason? So I go to add/remove programs in XP, click on the demo, and hit uninstall.
The demo installer starts up, thinks for a moment, and says (paraphrased here)
"You've installed the full game. You can't install the demo once the full game is installed. Uninstall full game before installing the demo"
Now, I'm not trying to install the demo - I understand that typically the same installer is run to both install and uninstall a program. But in this case someone seems to have added a check into the installer that assumes it's only used for installation, not removal!
So how do I get rid of the demo? I don't want to uninstall the full game if it's possible - just get rid of the unneccessary demo.
