Question/Interest Survey

Hi there,

Before I delve into my question, I want to make a preliminary inquiry.  I'm a big Star Wars fan and I've started accurately mapping "all" the planets in the Star Wars Galaxy using Galaxy Forge.  In all the finalized map will have 200+ planets/asteroids/gas giants/etc.

My question is will the extreme number of planets severely bog down game play?

A second thought is, if this map is indeed playable, is this the type of map the Star Wars Conversion Mod might need?

Thanks!

I don't think it's the number of planets that'll bog down gameplay, but the fleet supply limit. With the current fleet supply cap the Rebellion and the Empire will be stretched thin everywhere, and jumping from one system to another will take too long. Otherwise, if it's playable, I'd definitely play it.

There are already both in progress (a map and a mod)

Right, I know of the complete star wars galaxy map and the increased fleet supply map.

The problem I have with the complete sw galaxy map is the same problem I ran into when I started constructing my map. Too many stars tends to bog down gameplay (on my comp at least) a bit more than a lot of planets. In my map I have one star/center of the galaxy (Deep Core) with a giant radius and currently 100 planets of the varying types (using Sins Plus by Uzii) according to planet type information from wookieepedia.

In the game, the map works fine but fleet supply is definitely a problem. I may decide to construct a smaller map with only the more well known worlds after I've uploaded my current 100 planet map.

Let me know what you guys think of those thoughts. Thanks!!

Well using one star has alot of benefits.

Youll be able to defend alot more with the current fleet cap

And also (and Im going by my comps specs (Geforce nvid 8300 gs, 3gig ram, 2.2ghz dual core proc) It will drasticly reduce lag. I know when i played on a map with 100+stars There was some frame rate. 100 planets though you shouldent see any big problems. I played on a 200 planet map with out any problems.
