I'm useless when it comes to coding or art, but I've got a good voice.  I sang professionally with Palm Beach School of the Arts for four years and won myself several awards.  I also served in the military and I've done a *little* voice work in the past for some things online, mostly for friends.

 

I only post this because I feel that the voices in Sins are a little weak, and I wouldn't sound like the janitor being pulled into a sound booth you know?  And if anyone needs a man's voice behind some of those ships or even to narrate your opening movie, let me know.  I'd love to do it.  And you can toy with my voice all you like, I really don't care.

 

God, it's good to see a motivated mod community.

Let me know what you think, if its better or worse - personally I dont think that too many of the Vasari voices are bad at all, except the scout and a few of the general messages, but if anyone would like different ones thats fine with me.

Its all a work in progress, so as long as criticizim is logical, I dont mind at all.


@ Windexglow, to me his voice quality is great, it just needs to be volume boosted to match the first few louder ones.

Nothing a quick touch up with Audacity couldnt do.


Edit 1: Also as a small note, I think that the TEC voices are a little overly comical, as with all races scouts - and especially the TEC Light Combat Frigate. I keep thinking he is some kind of space-gangster everytime I hear "What now?!".

Awesome, I can't do evil voices for shit. And I'm sure it can be toyed with post production for some nice distortion.

Also, we should keep in mind voices might be needed for Star Trek, B5, Star Gate, and Star Wars mods . . . dude I am jazzed.

In addition the 'researched finished' and 'Yes' worked really well. A think a static crackle and some background bass would work really well. We also have to keep in mind to keep our recordings short for the most part given other sounds will be occuring during play.

I just heard the A,B,C samples and i loved them all :D

My favorite is the "PrepareForPhaseJump2.wav" which made me lol. Just awesome work :CONGRAT:

i tried to fool around with the sound samples abit, but as i dont have any good programs all i made was bad lol. Will be looking for other programs to see what i can do :)

Hey thanks for the props, and thanks for fixing my links Multianna!

I sure dont mind lending my voice out for other mods, though it might take a while since im always so busy.


I have been using the freeware sound editing program "Audacity", but it doesnt have much in the way of altering effects to the sound channels, other than the standard pitch, tempo, reverse, echo staples. Just a few standards, but nothing that I could find to make the voice more raspy other than lowering the pitch.

If you find anything else let me know and ill see if I can assist!


Edit: Were some of the samples too drawn out? I'll have to make them shorter, if anyone takes up the task to put our voices in a mod.

I actually found the sound files i did in the beta :D its a female computer generated voice i did for the TEC. Its far from perfect but you can use it if you want :)

For some reason, and maybe i'm alone on this, but those are CREEPY Multianna. Reminds me of Portal a bit.
