Increase resource mod

Hey guys,

I'm getting sick of starting a game and slowly building my resources to research upgrades to make my ships viable in combat. I browsed the library, and didn't see a mod that increases the rate at which you extract resources.

Could someone point me in the right direction? Surely there has to be one of this nature.

ps,

Yes, I do have "fast" selected for resources in game options.

Thanks for your time!

You would have to mod every planet file to increase its 'Extraction rate' of the asteroids in orbit.

Edit: I don't think there are any mods like that, try Google.

Hello AKFortyWAR,

You might want to try my mod Heavy Nova 2.

http://letosilvermane.googlepages.com/home

I have made a variety of changes from the vanilla game to improve resources.

Each player's home system starts with 3 metal and 3 crystal asteroids.
The home system asteroids are 50% more productive than normal. This balances out the high credits from the large starting population and home system tax bonus.

I doubled the extraction rate of all asteroids.
I more than tripled the refinery rate so they are worth building now.
I doubled the effectiveness of extraction technology from 5% to 10%.
I doubled the number of levels of population technology.

Finally, I increased the range of the slow, medium, and fast settings. While I don't play that way, a side-effect of a balanced mod is that is scales smoothly. If you play with the fast settings, you will be building very quickly and swimming in resources. Just beware, the AI has been improved as well and they may raise large fleets and crush you if you can't keep up.

Good luck,
Silvermane

Edit: I wrote a program that mods every planet, ship, module, and technology setting the properties to whatever I want; so changing them all and tuning them all is no big deal for me.

Here is another approach. Start with your favorite mod, then edit Gameplay.constants.

Find:
incomeSpeedData-Fast
incomeRateGameSpeedScalar 0.30

Replace .30 or whatever value is there with a larger number such as 3. This will give you more credits.

Then find:
sellPrice 0.8
buyPrice 2.4

Raise the sell price and lower the buy price. This will allow you to buy and sell minerals and crystals cheaply.

Since gameplay.constants isn't compiled, you can edit it without affecting other changes that are part of the mod.

another solution, perhaps more pratical is to change the amount you get starting the game

Theres a mod that gives you 10 resource astroids on original planet and huge number of logistics and tactical building.

What mod do you have?

It is usually best to post in the thread where you got the mod.

Its very out of date. Judging from time stamp, to far for even harpo99999's tools to resurrect.

I just dump a ton of starting cash on--problem solved, no mod required--but the extra resource mod is in the official mod downloads--though I think it may be pretty dated (i.e., not Diplomacy compatible).

Hehe, ya I used it once for the flagship mod in September. It is still the last mod posted. Frankly for official, it's just painful. I do almost all of my updates in moddb now.

This is official now in my opinion.

http://ricksgalaxy.homestead.com/links.html - personal favorite for links to active mods for sins of a solar empire.

http://www.moddb.com/games/sins-of-a-solar-empire/mods - Not quite as actively updated but good to visit.

https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/forum/443 - Modding forums, requires a little hunting. The easier way is to get here through ricksgalaxy.

yeah, I like what ricksgalaxy has done

he keeps everything pretty well up to date as well

Thanks for the links--didn't even know about rick's--great site.  I was bummed when I got to end of his list.  My first modest mod effort blew up in my face last night--the game actually ran but my modding did absolutely nada.  Trying to figure out how to daisy chain those darn ability/buff conditions...YEARGH!
