Sins Multiplayer tournament

Who would be interested?

We're thinking this Summer to look at setting up an official multiplayer tournment with cash and prizes.

There would be team games and individual games (duels). The winner of a given game would submit the replay to the tournment server for moderators to evaluate.  If it's successful enough, we'd build a system to do these occasionally and get sponsors and such.

The question is, would you guys be interested in this?

What would the prize fund be?

Who would say no to this? I don't even play online, but of course this would be interesting.

ofc, we would love to take part in such a tournament.

Btw it doesnt even need prizes if u wanna do em regularly, its simply fun to have tournaments. :)
And while we are talking about it, would there be a way to create a tournament system for players so that we could setup em ourselfs?
Next step or another nice MP feature would be ofc a ladder. That would help a lot to create a healthy mp community.

Not only that, it is my opinion that these tournaments would actually help the developers find that elusive "balance'... Look at the replays of the winning teams, the obvious working strategies will be amply displayed.

You need to fix client stability first, i'm not repeating a tournament match 10 times because of crashes. After this, the gross imbalances need to get fixed. Then i'd be interested in doing a tournament.

Well I would assume they would have referees using observer function that could save the game in intervals :O

Most of the instability is system related -- I can complete most of my games just fine. In fact, most of my guild doesn't have issues with crashing, as its a rare thing for our games to be stopped by a crash. (Rare... and unpleasant when it does occur).

1. Make sure you didnt torrent the game.
2. Make sure all your software and hardware is working properly.
3. Send your exe file to ironlad to see if its corrupted
4. This post is just not the right one to post about your problem.

Ive been playing this game since the beta, and this have been one of the most stable games ive ever tried. And the imbalances is a matter of opinion.

Ok to make it clear, my game doesn't crash when i play with other people who have also stable clients and connections. But if i try to play someone else, there come the crashes.

This is not MY problem, it is related to the SINS client, and if you say otherwise, then you're obviously not playing this game so you don't know what you're talking about.

The imbalances are not a matter of opinion, there is something called logic, and it's not an opinion once you agree on a few assertions.

Now for referees, this game still lacks a real observer mode, there is a workaround for this but for a tournament it's not enough.

Last i heard, crashes not related to drivers, corrupted exes and similar, are due to packet loss and/or high latency. Can people who don't actually play please stop giving false advise ? thanks

hmmm, a chance to beat some more people at sins... mmmm

so wait, ur saying that people with slow internet connections are having problems running the game?!

It would be a very smart, but more importantly, fun move to make. Count me in!

that'de be fun... however, I'm curious what the format would be especially for the duels. Small maps? Large maps? I've played a fair amount of duels with my friends, and we've yet to find a set-up that provides for some truly exciting and engaging gameplay.

So I'm mostly curious what the official duel format would be so we can begin practicing.

Seeing as how I can play multiplayer just fine -- when I have the time for it -- I'd say yes I do play the game, multiplayer even. And rarely do I encounter a crash.

YES! but I need to know a week in advance so I can figure out when I could play.

Great idea and something I've been pushing for since mid-beta! :D

p.s. When determining times of play, please, please take account of all the other time zones and allow flexibility!
