Help with GalaxyForge

can't fix player positions in GalaxyForge + other issues

Hey anyone who has experience using GalaxyForge could you please help me with these issues...

1. Ever since the Sins v1.03 update came out the game won't fix player positions with user made maps, its completely random now, even with GalaxyForge v103! This makes making team orientated maps impossible. Is there something I have to do in GalaxyForge to get this to work?

2. How do you get wormholes to work in GalaxyForge?

3. The whole template interface is very confusing to me. Since there is no readme that comes with GalaxyForge I can't seem to figure it out. For some reason I can add a category ("Template:DefaultHomePLanetSetup" or "Template:LocalMilitia_Terran") but subcategories wont' get added. What do all the categories and subcategories mean and how do you just add individual items like your own custom local militia or an artifact to the planet??? The guide for GalaxyForge on the Sins website didn't explain how to use this either...

If anyone could answer even just one of these inquiries I would be extremely appreciative.

Thanks in advance ( :

Firstly posting this in the modding forum probably would have got you help quicker.

2. you have to write inter-star wormholes in by hand, otherwise you just have to select the phaselane between the two wormholes and change its type

3. Check out the GalaxyScenarioDef.GalaxyScenarioDef File (there is a copy in the GalaxyForge folder), it contains all the definitions of the templates. and for part 2, to add a new item to a planet with out using a template you need to add a new group to the planet in question, then you can select that group and change what spawns and when.

For the record, yes its all fairly complicated if your new to it.

i fixed the player position problem by going edit-players-player # and then set the team index to the team number that i intended the in game players to be.

i hope this helps anyone with the same problem.

i logged in just to "LOL". :D

While i am here, i have a few questions, if you could help me out.  Dont think starting a new thread is neccessary, as this one is titled appropriately.  i am making a map with Galaxy forge, and the beginners guide has only helped such a small amount.

1.  What is the difference between "Weighted" planet types and non weighted?

2.  Is there any way to change the vertical height of a solar system?  If not, what variable determines its set height within a game?  i notice that some systems are lower or higher relative to others, while most are on the same spatial level.

3. Why is there a setting for "RandomNonGreenStar"?  Do green stars have magical properties?  Or do the devs just despise the colour?

4. *Reserved for future inquiries*

*EDIT* 5. And why do some of these smilies look like they are on methamphetamines(sp?where is spellcheck?the sins windows theme,ironically,gives white help bubbles white text.  >_> )    ex.  <_<     :D (<LOL)       :'(     8C   :) ;) :w00t: ;P o_O

Thanks in advance for any assistance scribed into these pages.  Also, sorry if this post is out of place in this out-of-place thread.  It is just that the in-forum google search wierded me out, and i have become lost since using it.

1. Wieghted just means some planets have more of a chance of appearing than others. You can customize the "wieght" of each planet type in the GalaxySenarioDef file (in the gameinfo folder, I recommend making a mini mod for this).

2. Nope, the game either makes the planet's z coordinantes at random or in a way to avoid colisions with planets and phase lanes.

3. I don't know, my best answer is that I don't think green stars exist in real life.

Green stars do exist...Blue, Green, White, Yellow, Orange, Red (in that order from hottest to coolest) are broad  color categories (to keep it simple).

If you want to get fancier, google/wiki "star spectral classes".

Thanks for the weighted answer--was wondering too.
