Interdiction

Alright. I read somewhere that every race has a way to stop enemies from warping away.

I know the Advent one is Repulsion. Drive up an Iconus Guardian, put it in front of the retreating enemies, and watch them go careening backwards through the gravity well.

What do the Vasari/TEC have?

The TEC have their phase inhibitors. They stack to some degree I hear, but build one around a planet and it'll take an enemy ship a much longer time to phase jump. Put several and it'll take enemy ships even longer, and since most ships can't attack while they're jumping, well, you get the picture.

I don't play Vasari, so I don't know what they have, but they should have something similar.

Capital ships are still best for running down other retreating capships. Vasari have gravity bomb and phaseout hull. My fav though is Akkan battlecruiser's ion cannon. Fast cooldown and each shot turns the enemy capship into a sitting duck. So long as you dont' run out of antimatter it has zero chance of escaping.

besides, phase inhibitors take up tactical slots and are immobile.

Vasari have Subverters

I saw this post and had to register to comment. I want to argue for the Vasari Evacuater Cap. Ship (colony one) It has a Gravitational Warhead ability which is an AOE phase-jump disruptor for a given period of time. I generally use two of these cap. ships in my fleets and when the enemy fleet runs, i send those cap ships over to where it looks like they will be jumping away.

If they get there in time I alternate the CD on the same ability for each ship and keep those fleets from going anywhere, then the rest of my fleet just comes over and crushes them and there phase disabled face.

Can you do that in multiplayer though? After all you are assuming the enemy will try to run away.....if I saw a fleet with 2 evacuators I would jump for joy and attack instead of retreat...evacs are weaksauce if they didn't have Colonize i would never use them.

Heh, Would jump for joy and attack them as well, i was just saying they have a very decent phase jump disrupter, and i also use them for hit and run resource machines off planets.

Evacuators are weaksauce? This is news to me. Last time I checked, they could kill a heavy cruiser in one shot with nano-disassembler fully leveled-up.

I think he was talking about how they are the slowest, least damaging capital ships and ripe for focus-firing with a fleet of ships.

to continue this off topic string of posts... :p

i've switched off evacuators to devastator into marauders into desolators and i'm not looking back. dissembler is nice, but that is only if u have the antimatter from colonizing. the loss of planet drain sucks, but that is what desolators are for anyway.

devastator is super nasty vs other cap ships (lets face it, whoever wins the first capship fight usually wins, hence he is first) and strong against heavy cruisers. the marauders phase shift ability is absolutely hilarious once there are a ton of heavy cruisers on the field. they can either ignore both of your cap ships, or be forced to ignore them when they get low on health. a sufficiently leveled marauder makes the opponent's FF on caps pointless.

And even with that the other Vasari capships have better abilities.....Combat-wise an Evacuator has nano, a gravity bomb that can't damage targeted capships and allows them to shoot back, and a terrible lvl6 ability. That's weak. The other vasari ships have a variety of abilities that are better plus they have more firepower at their disposal.

And comparing Evacuator to the other race's equivalent capships....Akkan has ion bolt and fire control, a far better set of abilities. Progenitors like evacs have a useless lvl6 skill but Malice and the Shield regenerate are a powerful set of skills.

I'm not saying that Evacuators are useless.....but without Colonize I would find no reason at all to waste my credits on them when I could get a kortul instead, whereas for TEC and Advent I would not at all hesitate to get their colonize capships because I know they have long-term value.
