Blurry text driving me crazy!

Has anyone else noticed the text in this game being blurry and hard-to-read? I'm running 1.03, at the native resolution of my LCD, and I've tried all the various anti-aliasing options. Am I missing something or doing something wrong? Is there something I can do to fix it?

Here's an example:
Blurry!

Thanks;

What refresh rate are you running at? At one point I had an LCD that for some reason got blurry over 60 Hz.

What kind of LCD do you have, what kind of graphics card to you have? Having that info could help tell what is the problem.

I have a 22" widescreen NEC and a good graphics card everything is ultra sharp for me.

I don't see any blur on that photo...

ditto.

(To clarify, if I'm not seeing a blur in the screenie, it may be your monitor)

I'm running 60hz. I tried other refresh rates, no help.

I have a Geforce 7950GT outputting to a 19" Planer PE190-WH over the analog "D" cable (No DVI with this monitor). The pic I placed in the original post looks blurry to me, while all the text around it is razor-sharp.

Here's another, more pronounced example:

Oh, and my native resolution is 1280x1024.

Again, no blur.

Weird. What resolution are you running?

I have the exact same problem, I am running a Geforce7900GT on a 22" LCD (1680x1050, 60hz).

Your pics look blurry to me as well...

Last example again, blown up -- that's definitely blur:

The 'cas' in "Autocast" is hard to read, and most of "Disabled" is nearly illegible for me.

It's getting to be less of an issue as I play the game more -- I'm reading the text less, and getting used to the blur. Still kinda distracting, though.

Check the performance/quality settings for your video card. If it's skewed towards performance, slide it to the middle or all the way to quality. I had to do this for a text problem on another game.

The blur is Anti Aliasing on the font. I agree though the text in Sin is a little hard to read at a high resolution. I think there's a font mod somewhere which gives you easier to read text. I haven't tried it. Usually changing the font causes a problem with text fitting in boxes properly. Of course the mod may work fine.

It is just the anti-aliasing on the font - added to the fact you only have an analogue input. Add those together and it can get quite bad.

Also if you are messing with the in-game anti-aliasing do make sure that your haven't set up your graphics card to over-ride the games anti-aliasing.

Here's a link to the font mod mentioned above: Font mod which should help.

A better cable might also help.

Awesome, thanks for the link to the font mod!

A new monitor and video card are in the pipeline, but it'll be a few weeks before my budget can accommodate these things. :)

Its worth pointing out that the regular version is perfectly clear; the blown up one is difficult to read.

Here is a before and after shot using Font mods. It appears that the problem is that default font is trying to pre-alias the characters thus making the fonts appear unfocused. Even with a 24" 1920 x 1200 display and a DVI interface, there is no cleaning up this problem short of overwriting the fonts with replacement fonts. There have been lots of posts in here on this problem. Hopefully the developers read these forums too.

If so many people had this issue that somebody had to come up with a mod just to fix it. Well, as the saying goes, all the people can't be wrong.

The forum software will resize these images so make sure you click on them to open them up in a new window at full res. The difference is unmistakably better with the mod install.

Dvi cable + LCD monitor + your video card = no more problems.

Analog cables on an LCD monitor definitely make things 'fuzzy' especially sharp rendering with AA etc..

Good find on the font mod, but really you shouldn't need it with the appropriate setup.

Odd, I usually run at maximum AA and never run into any problems.

Well let me also make one other comment on this thread. I work in the displays industry and calibrating a display is of course important. But let us not overlook the human factors involved. In my case, my eyesight is not what it was when I was 18 and did not wear glasses. This font would fail the 504 compliance test but then again, was that really the design objective. :D

Don't get me wrong, this is a great game but this problem of bad fonts needs to be addressed.

Well either font that Mexico7 gave as examples are still sharp to me and i have a 19" NEC LCD Monitor and ATI Radeon x1650 Pro Graphic Card running the DVI connection. Still nice to know about all this stuff about monitors and stuff since i don't pay that much attention to monitors just the guts of the Computer.

I agree about the fonts. Hopefully, they will address the issue in the next update.

LCD are a lot more better and don't take up that much space compare to CRT. Plus look to the future see what is going to be more popular CRT or LCD.
