Pervasive Economy?

What exactly qualifies as purchases and trades?

Buying ships? Structures? Planet Improvements?

Or is it just like buying off the black market?

Er...
You can put your resources on the black market for others to buy. And you can purchase resources off the black market.

Trading comes from the trade outposts in the civic tree. They make trade ships that travel between other trade ports. You need at least one in two different planets for them to travel between them, but the more you make the more cash you get. I usually make one in each planet, and two where I can afford to have them. There are also refineries, but trade ports are better. Purchases I believe would qualify as all those, but I am not sure exactly what you mean by purchases. Are we talking about an achievement, or otherwise?

Pervasive Economy is a tier 8 research option for the TEC.

As I understand it (and I could easily be wrong), it gives you a credit bonus for nearly everything 'anyone' buys including ships, structures, planetary upgrades, etc.

I don't know if this applies to the market or other upgrades like ship training and I don't know exactly what amount is awarded.

Pervasive Economy, the TEC ubertech that gives you credits every time someone spends credits in the game.
By my experience, it is exactly that. Someone buys a metric freighterload of metal for 2000 credits? You get credits. Someone builds a capship? You get credits. ETC.
Don't think it applies when someone buys your head on a silver platter from the pirates, tho.
