Some more ideas

Here's one that keeps comming up when I play... is it possible to remove the race logo from all the ships when they are in a fleet?  Seems like things get all jumbled when I zoom in during a huge fleet vs fleet battle (100 ships plus per side) and all I see is the logo of my ships, unless I zoom in real close.  Can it be made so only the flagship has the race symbol hovering over it?  I know what ships are mine, they are my color when zoomed out, but I see more logo's than my own ships when I try to zoom in.

One other thing...why is it that pirates are only TEC?  I would think there would be rebels and pirates of all of the factions, not just the TEC. It would add to the danger of facing pirates if they had different abilities as a group, ack...think of it, a fleet of mixed race ships, all hell-bent on killing whomever holds the highest bounty at the time.
And while I'm on the topic of pirates, why is it that the bounty placing screen is as bad as a ebay bidding screen?  If you do not watch the screen the whole time the skull and crossbones are flashing you will get a higher amount added, especially true if going against hard or unfair opponents.  And they always seem to add just as the pirates are going to raid, only way I've found to counter this is to add every few seconds until the attacks start.  Got to be a better way.

Planets...can a new research be added where bunkers are added to protect the population, kind of like the planet shields, but available earlier in the research tree?  I'm sure they would have a lesser effect of saving population, say 60% effectivness?  And what about planet based defenses?  Seems there should be a tech where you can add planetary cannons, like the ion cannons in star wars, to protect the planet against ships who have decimated the orbital defenses, kind of like a last line of defense?

Will add more ideas as they come to me...

1. Turn that off in the UI options.

2. Because the Vasari are invaders and the Advent are invaders. Also, I assume they don't care about money as much.

3. UI mod

4. Sure, but you won't get the effect.

bout the pirates...

like Carbon said vasari + advent are invaders. b4 the TEC was formed they were seperated in groups. they formed the TEC after the groups got tagged 1 by 1 due 2 Vasari

some of them groups sticked to the "profits are life" style and starting raiding all the factions for profit

bout the planets.....

u cannot.. seriously can NOT compare his to starwars.... ion cannon on planet... sure.. how do you balance this.. what is the range?.. damage.. effects?.. bonusses..side effects..

b4 coming up with such an idea u might wanna think it all through..... or let someone else take all the credit..

I wouldn't think of compairing it to star wars, I was merely using it as a reference.

More idead:

An anti-Advent: A race that counters culture, repels it away from its worlds, a race so rebelious and anarchist they would nulify the culture from the galaxy. Would not be able to capture these guys without massive culture, only raw military force. Too many single games rely on culture wars, so why not make a race that counters it.

Is there a way to mod in a custom race feature, like the one in Gal Civ?

As far as conversion mods go, I'd like to see a Robotech mod, SDF-1 could appear in the realm of Sins, veritech fighters in all the different configurations would be do-able. Too bad you couldn't apply the destroids though. But the Zentradi would make an interesting race, as well as the Invid.

Back to pirates...Is there a way to make a pirate main fortress...one that would have a population and the ability to create their own fleets, instead of the pirates just appearing out of nowhere. I've seen it where I kill off all the pirates at the base, destroy all structures, but leave the Base alone, and still they plague the system with raids. Would make more sense if they had a home world or something where the ships come from, not just magically appearing. And why not make it where there is a specific Capitol ship for them?

more later....

Whoa whoa whoa. WHAT? Culture is relegated to the garbage pail in this game. The entire game is 'raw military force'.

Try playing the game with culture spread at the slowest on a 80 plus planet map with hard opponents...You'll never get the planets you conquer. At least I haven't yet...still playing it though.
