Game wont work past starting menu

I start the game and then the main menu comes up with:
-Play the Game
-Update Game
-Update Serial
-Manual

I click on Update Serial, my serial key that I entered pops up in full that I typed in, all correct
I click on Play the Game, the menu goes away and NOTHING happens, I've uninstalled and reinstalled it about 3 times now, whats going on? Can someone please help?

BTW, I have XP, not Vista, so I know thats not a problem...

Have you tried starting the game from the exe in the installation folder instead of through that menu?

He means have you tried running the file that's (most likely) located here:

C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Sins of a Solar Empire.exe

You know, I have been having a problem almost identical to that one. Mine will go into the game and all, but when I hit New Game and then hit Start, it goes to the loading screen and the bar never moves. It basically freezes my computer. How do I fix that? I have XP as well and I have tried starting the game every possible way.

WOW. Thats the EXACT problem i have been having. Its really irritating. I found that if i minimize the game after it freezes on the loading screen, i have a mini-dump error and the game closes after i hit ok. Ive tried everything =(

Please send the minidump in to [email protected]. If it's something that can be resolved on your end, they'll let you know what you can try to sort it.

I have sent in a technical email to tech support about 3 days ago and I haven't heard anything from them. I explained that I met all the requirements for the game and everything like that. I also explained the problem. When can I expect to hear back from them?

I know this sounds like a crazy idea for a solution, but if you have the time and the knowhow, it might be a good reason to go with a clean install of windows. Format your drive, only saving files you need, and reinstall fresh. Then get the latest windows updates and video drivers from the gfx card website.

Most people don't have those sort of problems, so i figure something must be wrong with your computers.

I think you need to read the forums more because alot of people are having these problems. I had the problems for about a week, I emailed support and got a response about 5 days later. They informed me I was getting low on memory. I took care of the problem they suggested but before me adding memory I tried uninstalling and reinstalling which actually made it worse. I got this to work by Reformating, Installing only the drivers needed and then the game, and it has worked ever since. I still get minidumps but I belive there cause I have a older computer.

200k units sold. If 1000 complained on the forums, then i would agree with you. And that's still 1/200 or .5 percent of people having a problem.

I am having the same problem. Is there anyone we could contact? During install it doesn't say my system doesn't meet the requirements. I can't discern what the problem is. I click Start Game and nothing happens.

Anyone know how to contact tech support?

Just out of curiosity, have you tried running the game in "Windowed Mode"? What are some of you guys' system specs?
