One of my friends (Magnus) did a mod for us and our little community (Celestial Order) and thought I'll share some of his hard work here.

If you guys like it, I can upload the files for your usage when he's complete with the last few Vassari.

These are crazy nice!

The asian woman looks like Yukie Nakama
http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Nakama_Yukie

The black guy also looks like Dave Chapelle lol

I wonder if using these portraits instead of the originals can cause any sync problems

Edit: I didn't read the second page that she actually WAS based on Yukie Nakama. Oh well, I still feel smartz

I finally got around to starting a new game with these portraits, and they add a lot to the game! Very nice work.

I like the airbrushy snake pliskin looking guy in the bottom left for entirely non-sins reasons!

I like the avatar above that one. = smexy.

For those that noticed this stopped working with Entrenchment, just make a copy of player_portrait_large.tga and rename that copy player_portrait_large.dds and it'll start working again.

If that's common sense, I apologize. I had to investigate to figure it out.

Might be just me but that doesn't seem to work.

You do this copy in the mod folder right?

C:\C:\Documents and Settings\[Your Name]\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods-Entrenchment v1.01 right?

Eve online backgrounds with various pasted actors/actresses/heads from other games or movies
But yep it looks great. The top middle one with the flowy hair looks insane, reminds me of the Oracle from 300, damn she was hot
End of Baleur's quote

Really hot.

do other people see your pic, or does their comp use their own? so youd look normal.
End of bandw2's quote

Nobody ever answered this.  What happens on others CPU if you are in MP (of course, this would have to be in entrenchment now).

ooh, these are nice.  the last few Vasari coming still?

How do you get this to work with Entrenchment? I can't seem to get it to work by putting it in the mod folder or replacing the files in the Textures folder.

We should petition Ironclad to include them in the 2nd expansion, with the creators permission of course.

or in an update

I was able to get them to work together with some other mods some time ago, it is something related to loading order, try moving it up or down and use the following instructions:

A better way to do it:

create a custom mod folder in your mods directory. name it "portraits mod" or something similar.

in that folder, create a folder named "Textures" and drop these .tga files in there.

Now, you can enable/disable the new portraits at will!
End of Kingrames's quote

Rename .tga to .dds for Entrenchment compatibility.

A better way is to download nVidia's DDS tools and run 'nvdxt.exe -file Player_Portraits_Large.tga -dxt5' so that it will actually be a dds

Very nice portraits but they do not work for me.  I can see the mod and enable it but they don't work.  Changed the name to .dds as adviced and nothing, funny thing I removed all the player portraits in the game folder, mod folder etc, replaced them with these and....... I get.......the  original portraits...:annoyed:

Actually I've never been able to get a mod to work with this game, enable them or not....

wait, this is confusing. i got the tool. i ran the command line through the cmd program that you get typing 'cmd' into the 'run' feature in the start menu. it says that it cant open Player_Portraits_Large.tga -- should i put the origin file somewhere special?

Could somebody help me. I downloaded the mod, but when I try to extract the files it  says it can't do it and I have no idea what is happening. Somebody mind helping me?

Wow they are amazing.

Hey, i just downloaded the .ZIP from the mirror, and a .dds file was missing.

Without that file the game cant show the portraits on "player setup".

I made a quick fix using Photoshop, and uploaded both 5 files needed here:

Thanks to Magnus and reubenyap, i was missing too much nice portraits like these ^^

Well, you have to be in the same directory as the .tga file yah :o

thanks null core

what does that mean "you have to be in the same directory as the .tga file" if im running the program through command lines i dont see how it is possible to be in the cmd window and in the folder with the files. or do i stick the files in the folder i unzipped nvidia dds tools too? cause i did that second one already. but then youre saying to stick the .tga file in the same directory as the .tga file and i am definitely missing something there.

sorry for my slowness i am not good at this stuff

you have to 'cd' (for change directory) to the same dir where the tga is once you start cmd.exe

or you could just open it with photoshop after installing the photoshop plugin, if you have it.

I was wondering if anyone has the skill/time to put the new ones with the orignals?

Was also wondering if anyone had the skill/time to make a couple different sets or a very large one in which there are more portrait rows with different portrait combinations for a greater variety over all.
