Vasari crystal issues

Im a Vasari player. im used to playing as them and have a good strategy. however, i never have enough crystal to do what i wan to do. i always have to wait for a while to get stuff, which puts me at a big disadvantage in MP games. even if i have several ice planets.

Are you talking like right off the start? or later in the game?

Well, either way, it happens to almost everyone in almost every game. That's what the market is for :P I don't know how I'd play without it... or if those prices are to high you could go for refinerys or what every the vasari equivalent is... I'm not sure how the economics work out in v1.04 but they're definately more profitable than they were in v1.03 due to the black market adjustments.

vasari refineries are called matter processors and they are available at tier 3 (unlike tier 4 for the other factions). truthfully the vasari economy is supposed to be more resource based than credit based, compared to the other two factions, this is why vasari don't get trade ports until tier 4.

the 1.04 black market rates are a huge benefit to Vasari because they make it MUCH more profitable to sell of excess metal (which accumulates in every game) for big credit boost. the problem is crystal. you just can't do significant research and build a big fleet at the same time even when selling alot of metal.

my solution is to focus on military research and try to get the work done with the smallest fleet possible. this is more credit efficient (since you don't have to research as many fleet supply upgrades). i direct most of my crystal income into researching military technology. once Stilakus Subverters with the warp bubble are available even a small fleet can defeat almost any other force in the game.

If you are pumping nothing but assailants (Vasari's best tactic in general) you shouldn't have much of a problem with this.

Alternatively, if you are tech rushing stuff, you will generally have a HUGE problem with this early game, as all players who tech rush do.

Also note: Getting civic upgrades costs you A TON of crystal. As vasari, it's generally not with getting civic upgrades unless you absolutely need to. Civic upgrades wont net you enough of a bang for the buck since we dont get trade ports till tier 4. Just stick with military labs and get as many crystal extractors as you can. See how much that helps you.
