Unable to install on Vista

I just purchased the game and am trying to install it on my Vista system.  When installing, I get the following error:

Error reading from file:  D:\data\offline\ca21f9c0\1fdc88e4\Weapon_PsiCapitalLaserLight_Muzzle.particle

If I ignore, the next file access attempt fails, and so on.

This is a Mac Pro booted into Win Vista 32 bit via Boot Camp.

Just further info...running Vista Ultimate 32 bit. I have attempted to run the setup.exe as administrator, and under XP compatability mode to no avail.

Ok im not even going to attempt to guess whats wrong with your disc but there is a different way to get the game.


First go to the bottom of the page and click the Stardock Symbol on the right (you guess it the S).Then go to downloads and download StarDock central once you have it installed and such register your Sins serial (by way of the Tools,Register Product) and you'll have access to the downloadable version of the game.It will take probably 45 min-2 hours depending on your internet connection and computer specs.

However, erm, it was a stupid noob mistake. Wiped some crud off the disc and all was well...

I hope you have a legal copy! StarDock has made a really great game and it's open for us to download as we need to. I have downloaded the game like 4 times after serious PC troubles and I've yet to hit any restrictions. They do all this and just ask to to pay USD 45. That's not asking much!

Oh yeah, definitely a legal copy. Found it for $40 at Fry's...pretty great price I think!
