I see a lot of complaints about seige frigates. I take it that people do not like them because they do little damage. But they are definately worth their price. Use them to sneakily bomb another player's undefended economic powerhouse. Even if you lose a couple, you cost the enemy more.

BUT this is limited by # of cap ships. In a very open map, using 3 or more cap ships in the same front could cause massive problems in your offensive/defensive strength. Add that to the 16 limit and...you may not have enough caps to go around. In straight up fleet supply to power ratio, cap ships perform way better. Sometimes siege vessels are just necessary, though.

Also, don't underestimate that 15 supply in the role of cannon fodder. As I have stated in both other posts, these are extremely high priority targets as well, so if you have a little extra fleet supply, 2 or 3 can be sacrificed to give you a wonderful shield in battle.

Seige frigates are great for putting pressure on the enemy. Send one and a couple support ships to maybe 3 planets at once. The enemy fleet will have to suffer losses while fighting you.

Also, they are great for cleaning up enemies who you have beaten down. Why should I build all seige caps when I could build ones that live longer or serve a purpose more useful to me?

Look, the point is that if you are attacking someone, you really need to take out his planets or he comes back. It is lame that there are not better ways to do that in this game. But as it is you need either a cap ship or a seige frigate. I know seige frigates are very limited, but they serve a purpose. If I just finished off blue, and now red is attacking me, I leave 3 heavy cruisers, 2 cobalts, and one or 2 seige frigates to finish taking him out. Either that or I have to use my level 6 cap ship, which I prefer to fight with.
