Which version of Sins?

Is there any way to figure out what version my copy of sins is at? I installed the latest patch, yet I cannot speed up the game speed (it's + and - keys to control game speed right?) nor do my opponents give up despite the fact that they had like no fleet and only control like three planets.

Oh yeah thanks. I wonder why I can't speed up time though?

Edit: Figured it out. I have a German keyboard, and for some weird reason Sins mapped the key-commands to where they would be on a US one. Ie. increase speed was mapped to ~ or something like that. Anyway, I've got it straightened out. Now to figure out why my opponents weren't surrendering.

I'm not exactly sure what all goes into AI surrenders.. sometimes I've had an AI give up with 3 planets still owned but with fleets wiped out, other times it sticks around until the last planet falls. I bet it has something to do with its alliances (IE if it has good allies it won't surrender, but if it's all alone getting attacked from several sides, it will). That's just anecdotal, though..

I think the AI only surrenders if it is absolutely 101% obvious that it doesen't stand the slightest bit of a chance. I played a few games so far, and the AI never surrendered on me, till I took over every planet.

I assume the developer played it very safe, since the decision to surrender is not really an easy one, especially for a computer. So it rather not surrenders at all/very late, instead of surrendering to early.

I myself simply quit a game if I think I won and don't want to take over every planet. It simply takes far too much time to clean everything up.
