Price?

How can the website be charging extra for the game?

Hey all, perhaps someone can clear this up for me before I write a letter to this company.

How is it that if you buy the game on this website, www.sinsofasolarempire.com, the download only version is More expensive than if one were to go to say gamestop and purcahse the game? Shouldn't It be the same price or cheaper? and 10$ + Shipping and handeling more expensive than buying it in a store for being able to DL a game and have it shipped to you. Shouldn't it be like 39.99 + shipping and handling?

I mean what, am I paying for like convenience or something, sounds kind of silly to me, doesn't it?

I think the sins being sold on the website is a special edition copy that comes with extras.

Its the Collector's Edition. Check out the "Store" button above where it describes the contents :)

For a bit, some stores were selling the game for 30 instead of 40, but if they sold the download for 30, then no store would be able to sell the game for 40.. on one hand they could theoretically sell the game for whatever they sell it to the distributors for, on the other hand, then noone would put their game in a box and sell it for them.. quite the dilemma, huh?

well i mean, even if they sold the game online for 30 and in stores for 40 im sure there would be more sales in store because of greater exposure, and some people, like myself, enjoy having a hard copy of the game, and a nice pretty box.

hehe so im paying a 5$ premium for downloading the collector's edition of the game, which im guessing that if i were to get the dl only version, would be the exact same as the regular version, Oooooh Im dling the collector's edition, neat! lol

I ended up letting them ship me the game and DL it directly now. ah well, I suppose this is why I work :p

Though seriously 10$ shipping for a game? must be a heavy box.....

i suppose it can cover like bandwidth and stuff but eeeeeeeh

I'm a big fan of Stardock (I own all the GalCiv stuff, and preordered the GalCiv2 expansions), but I am "thrifty", so I couldn't stomach the $10 shipping on the box. There's a part of me that wishes I had though; a printed tech tree and keycard would've been nice to have. Of course I wish a CE version was available in stores...then I could've had the extra content w/o paying the $10 shipping. Ah well, it's all a weighing of pros and cons at any given point in time.

I'll undoubtedly preorder the expansion pack. The quality of Sins has convinced me it's worth a little more to pay up front for their next release.

No, it wouldn't be the exact same as the regular version because instead of getting a physical music CD and posters, you get access to them digitally with mp3s and pdfs, which regular edition users don't get. Also, CEs (both boxed and digital only) get access to the Sins MyColors theme, and regulars do not.

It sounds like the sales are a comin', since both Best Buy and Amazon had it on sale last week at $30. You cannot go wrong on this game at $30.

I don't' regret paying the $45.

I have gotten 500 or 600 hours or so of enjoyment out of it.
