When your fleet arrives in an enemy gravity well, how does the AI decide who and what to target? DOes it target fleets first then structures? Does it send your different types of ships after their weakest opponent type? For example I notice that Captital ships and bombers go after the other captital ships which seems right, but in the heaps of other craft I find it hard to tell who is shooting who. I do notice that the AI seems to forget about what a ships appropriate target type is in favor of always targeting siege frigates first.
If I knew that the AI send ships after their targets based on max damage/counter effect then I'd feel a lot less compelled to micro-manage fleet encounters. But as it is it seems that the fleet tends to run off after siege frigates and capital ships while being anihilated by all the frigates they should be toasting.
