NO PHASING ALLOWED :D

If we extended the gravity well of the star to the entire system would there be no phasing in said system? Wouldnt that change tactics significantly? Also using wormholes you could create strategic points with short travel time between them.

Well, if you have several spare hours while your ship leg it between the planets... ;)

The interface would get horribly confused. This happens already, when 1 planet spawns right over another along the z-axis. Try it. You won't like it :)

you can turn off certain parts of the interface cant you?

When you click the mouse it has to work out which planetary system you are refering to. AFAIK it does this by drawing an imaginary line down from your screen until it intersects the z-elevation of a planet, and then checks within that planets objects. If you made every planets object cover the entire system, I think you'd only be able to select / move / order to objects within the topmost planet.

side show, I wont, each planet will still have its own gravity well. The solar one however will overlap them all. Has anyone tried this?

Also has anyone tried loading a map without any phase lanes?

I tried to make a mod where ships could jump from one planet to any other planet without the need to make multiple jumps. I did this by giving each type of planet the "Phase Gate Module" abilty that the Vasari Phase Gates grants. My goal was to allow direct jumping from anyone planet to another planet within the same system. (Something I would think and FTL drive strong enough to travel to a distant star system would allow.) This would completly change the tactics needed to play a game, by eliminating choke points and making it necessary to fortify all your planets. I would still like to do this, however my modding skills are apparently lacking, because my mod did not work. Each planet has the "PhaseGateMidule" abilty, but direct travel still isn't possible. If anyone has any idea how this could work, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I can tell you what you did wrong Tyk -- phase gates only work for the player who built and researched them.

Well do you know if there is a way make them work for everyone without aving to build them then? Possibly by giving every planet the abilty?

If there's a way to make it so you can hide a research, you could do this easily, just set the initial value of it to true on a hidden research. However, to the best of my knowledge, you can't hide a research on the menu, so you've got to deal with an eyesore.
