How do I claim uncolonizable metals/crystals as Vasari?

Ok, so it seems to me that the Advent have the missionary vessel that lets them be able to mine the metals/crystals pretty easily, but that the Vasari don't have an equivalent ability on their colonizer frigate?  I was trying to figure it out last night and I researched a few techs that seemed related to this ability in the industry section, but I couldn't in the end figure out how to mine/access these resources.

If someone could let me know how to do this I would appreciate it.  It seems like a pretty good advantage the Advent have to be able to do this fairly easily???

Use the fo.. er, Scout ;)

The Vasari have the easiest time capturing neutral mines, since their scouts autoexplore everywhere anyway :)

The TEC also use their colony frigate, like the Advent.

AH...yes, I also noticed in my most recent game after posting this that the scout had the ability. I swear it didn't have it when I looked before though, lol?! Is there an upgrade that enables it or did I just miss this little tidbit? Thanks!

You probably just missed it, there's no upgrade or anything - it starts with it just like the other races' colony frigates ;)

ok, cool, thanks! i played a new game and was able to nab all those metal/crystal deposits with my scout! i think that's great.
