TEC has a very serious problem in the late game at the moment.

Advent late game: Guardians with repulsion and illuminators will eat up kodiaks, making them useless (although kodiaks using intercept can actually ignore the repulsion). Illum's eat up javelins very quickly. TEC strike craft are unable to effectively take out the guardians (especially backed up by a mother ship and defense vessels). On top of that late game Advent usually manage to get a level 6 radiance (unless the failed early on) and will combine that with the mothership to cream your fleet of, well, anything. If a TEC player allows the advent to get up to repulsion and six or so guardians backed up by illuminators they are screwed since at that point the advent can pick you apart slowly but surely.

Vassari late game: Enforcers with reintegrate are a pain to kill, they can tank an obscene amount of LRM's. Kodiaks will effectively turned off thanks to subvert's. Vassari capitals have better level 6 abilities (evacuator, devestator and desolator) then TEC. And then of course if a vassari player get's RA backed up by subvert's the TEC player might as well quit right then and there.

TEC do have a good early and mid game though. They make a great team mate for spamming trade ports and feeding money to a vassari or advent partner. LRM's are still very powerful and you can if you can hit an advent player before he has a significant number of illuminators you can crush him. However, once the advent player is churning out illum's LRM's become almost useless and by the time you have kodiaks to counter illum's the advent player will have a few repulsing guardians. In short you have to shut down the advent early, pretty much necesitating an aggressive strategy.

Versus a vassari player it will come down to LRM's vs. assailants, which is actually a closer match up then most people admit with a slight advantage going to the LRM's. A big problem on random maps though is that vassari can go straight military, using their speedy scouts to snag up nuetral extractors while pumping out weapons labs and assailants and ignoring ice/volcano worlds. To match the vassari's economy the TEC player needs to hit trade ports, but then they will be behind on the rush to HC's. If the TEC matches the vassari's military push then they will be behind on the economy and they will find themselves unable to do any real damage to the vassari player before subvertors disable their fleets.

SIDE NOTE!!!!

If the TEC player has much better micro then the advent/vassari (ie the vas player doesn't understand that you can leave subvert's on autocast, or the advent doesn't understand how to pulse repulsion) then yes, the TEC can win fairly handily. In a match between EVENLY matched players the TEC are far behind in late game strategies, and really should have no chance if they let the game go that long.

So, are you guys saying TEC might aswell kiss itself goodbye in late - game? I'd like to believe you have some hope against other fleets without uber micro, or is there really no other way other than stuffing your allies with your strong economy and hope that together you can prevail?

Late Game strats for TEC are: Make allies early on in the game, use your God-given talents for extorting money from the masses and bribe your way to the late game. Make sure you have all 16 capital ships possible, I would reccoment 3 Kol, 2 Sova, 2 Marza, 1 Akkan, 8 of your personal preference, For me, thats Sovas. Make sure you have upgrades done by middle game and if you micro well, Embargos on your opponents economy is the best way to go end game as of right now, due to the TEC's inability to slug it out with either Vasari or Advent.

What will the fleet do if it doesn't have the resources to pay upkeep? Answer? IT DIES   


So as of 1.04, The TEC is the economic powerhouse and you have to use your fleets to cripple the opponents economy and keep it shut down late game in order to win.

Or you can bribe that Vasari player with RA to wipe your enemies for you... Allways use the pirates too.   

I beat a player with RA as advent just recently. I'd use one or two guardians to bounce his fleets around a grav well while my fleet ran around blowing up all phase gates, imperial labs, and constructors. In the end there was basically nothing he could do to stop me from dismantling his infrastructure. And then of course I did have the cb + malice combo ready to go but for when I was ready to fight his fleet but he saw the writing on the wall and gave up.

He didn't have subverters to back up his RA though. I probably would have been a bit different if he had.

You're probably right about the Novalith but personally I'm really trying to avoid end game strats dependent on superweapons...

Guess I'm probably crippling myself but I have trouble accepting there are no other alternatives.
