I was experiencing problems with performance specifically when the camera is close to planets, and decided to update the game, my graphics drivers, and DirectX, when the problem continued to persist. When in games proper, the performance is fine when zoomed about two steps away from planets, but it slows to a crawl no matter which detail level the planets are at, or whether elevators and rings are displayed. This is especially obvious in the opening menu, with the sample solar system (even the menu buttons lag significantly).
Another curiosity is the apparent crash that occurs when I quit the game normally. The following error messages appear in this case:
Sins of a Solar Empire has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
AppName: sins of a solar empire.exe AppVer: 1.0.4.0 ModName: d3dx9_36.dll
ModVer: 9.19.949.2111 Offset: 001501bc
I am using Windows XP Professional SP2 and DirectX 9.0c with the following hardware:
Intel Core2 T7200 @ 2.0 GHz
2GB RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 512 MB
Integrated sound card
A full error report is available, but it's rather large and I'm not sure how to make attachments.
And it seems line breaks aren't working... what's the bbcode for that again?
