I got the free beta 2... its not impressing me. Albiet, I haven't finished the tutorials yet, but the camera controls are... rather ugly.

Any other comments about it after playing the Beta? I'm also interested in Shattered Suns.

Well my first impressions of the beta are pretty low, the gameplay seems shallow and uninvolved, but how much of that is due to the terrible interface I have yet to determin, but currently there is nothing that draws you into the game.

Plus who ever thought that freaking instant messaging was a good way of telling you the story needs his head examined, Especially as they kept in the freaking "you have a message" Bleep noise, I turned those off in real life because they annoyed me.

looks generic and somewhat unoriginal. looking at the screenshots reminded of Star Control, with the ships having so many vibrant colors.

I was excited for Shatted Suns when I saw this thread and looked the game up. I started to notice something about the information regarding the game however that is quite shocking, there is nothing about muliplayer in the game. This struck me as odd, so i posted about this on their forums and this is the response:

"Good question. There's no multiplayer in this release of the game. We're planning to add it in a future update, expansion, or sequel. It's funny you mention Sins of a Solar Empire. They focused on multiplayer and ran out of time and resources to build a single-player campaign. For us it was the opposite. We focused on the single-player campaign and just couldn't get to the multiplayer. Now they plan to add single-player campaign in a future update and we plan to add multiplayer in a future update.

In case anyone is wondering, we don't really see Shattered Suns as directly competitive with Sins. Sins is great for playing multiplayer games that last for weeks and mix the depth of turn-based strategy with RTS. Shattered Suns is great for faster-paced games with more action-oriented combat, the interactive story-driven single-player campaign, true 3D space flight and battles (not just visually 3D on a 2D plane), orbiting planets and moons (instead of board game like maps of planets), and--of course--deep customization of all units.

Personally, I play both Sins and Shattered Suns and love them both, but for completely different reasons. The fact that they're both based in space is about the only real common thread. That's why we don't see Sins as competitive. People who like one game will most likely also like the other, but (again) for very different reasons."

NO MULTIPLAYER!?! Short answer to your question of whether I am excited about Shattered Suns: NO!!!

I hate the website. Seriously, somebody designing such a totally stupid and retarded site can't possibly make a good game.

Totally useless and way too big flash animations are not cool at all. I'm certainly not going to spend a penny on such crap.
