Hard AI => Mini Dumps - Info

I hope this post will give more insight to whoever is fixing the multiplayer minidumps.  And, when it is fixed, kudos to those who did it.

My friend and I love Sins.  We've played a few rounds with Normal AI.  But once we decided to go against Hard AI, we get minidumps.  We decied to experiment.  Multiple times we switched between Normal and Hard AI.  Any games with Hard AIs, we get minidumps.  But games with Normal and/or Easy AIs works like a charm.  Is it something wrong with the AI's algorithms?  Or perhaps its because the Hard AI creates a lot more ships which crashes the game.

We hope this helps.

Very VERY interesting. I can also say that I never noticed the minidumps UNTIL we started playing HARD AI. I'll have to try and prove it again, but I think you are on to something actually...at least for my experiences.

I've noticed the same issue, however, I get mini dump errors now even id I don't use hard level AI's. It seems that about 5 to 10 minutes with the game running, I'll get the dump, even if I leave it in the menu screen the whole time. Probably going to have to reinstall -_-

Please send any minidumps to [email protected]. More than likely what you are experiencing are the multiplayer desyncs.

Since 1.04, I have had several min-dumps in single player, large maps, 8+ AIs. I sent in my dumps and saved games and last week received this reply from Ironclad:

"Hi Don,
Thanks for taking the time to submit your information and the minidumps. The problem seems to be in the user interface path finding (ship movement line drawing). I’ll track it down and fix it for the next patch.
Thanks again,
Josie :)

What REALLY annoys me is something that was mentioned in another thread. That is, when my fleet attacks a single retreating unit, sometimes it follows it out of the system. If this isn't fixed in the next patch, I'll have to put the game to rest until its fixed.

Echo that seems like a really good observation :) nice! Im going to try hard ai just to make sure I dont get the same thing. I probably will though but its better to know I guess!

My friends and I play against hard AIs all the time and we don't get crashes. We've only gotten one, and went sent to Ironclad, they told us it was the pathfinding bug (see Droom1's reply).

If you get a crash, follow kryo's instructions here and Ironclad will do their best to tell you why the crash is occurring.
