So why not start up the WI service (it should be on manual/automatic by default, so it'll only be giving issues if it's completely disabled manually) or run in regular (non-safe) mode?

i am trying it in normal mode even when i try starting setup file alone without autorun it says it cannot be installed

What specific error mesaage does it give you? If it's just something generic about install failed, make sure you have uninstalled the demo first if you had that.

I am having the same issue.

"Error

The Windows installer service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running windows in safe mode, or if the windows installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance."

Demo was never installed, all my other programs have installed perfectly thus far.

I am running off a fresh install of XP Professional x64, Service pack 2
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+
8Gigs of ram
Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe motherboard
Geforce 8600gt 512Mb
200Gb & 500Gb SATA Hard drives

Before I reformatted my system the game installed perfectly off the disc. When I try to log onto stardock central for the digital download, SDCentral freezes.

When in safe mode I get the error, "windows installer is not correctly installed"

When in normal mode I get the error:

"Error

The folder path 'Stardock Games' contains an invalid character."

My first instal apeared to work. It didn't. I could not save, and when I got the update it would not install because I "do not have Sins of a Solar Empire installed." I cannot uninstall, reinstall, or modify because of the error stated in this thread. I have never installed the demo.

I'm running a fresh install of Vista Ultimate X64, SP1
Intel dua core t9300
4Gigs of ram
Geforce 8700GT
Internal Sata 100GB Hard drive and External 500GB Hard Drive

The folder path 'Stardock Games' contains an invalid character.
End of quote

That's odd. Are you using a non-English localization of Windows?

It's an english version. I've looked around and everyone who has this kind of installation problem has a 64 bit operating system. Anyone know of a patch or something for this?

Your best bet would be to contact [email protected] in that case. Even if they don't have a solution offhand, they should be able to pass word to the installer guys so this can get looked into and solved.
