Let's just say shield generators are definitely worth the cost. With one up, a Novalith shell does only 700 damage.

The antimatter there is likely there for "show", so units with antimatter disabling/stealing abilities can affect from the generator.

It should show when you hover over the ability doesn't it? Or the research? I don't play TEC much, and build the shield generator even less :)

No, it doesn't show it. All it tells us is that it greatly reduces the damage done from bombardment.

The thing's still a great tool for only three tactical slots.

I use it a lot on border worlds. were i can expekt a incomming attack.. put in some repair platforms and som hangars and u have your self some time buying stuff.

I wonder if multiple shield generators stack? It's probably a waste of tactical slots to build more than 1 or 2 though.

When a planet battle is at the point that they are bombarding you, they are probably also at the point that they are destroying your orbital structures. It would take about 10 extra seconds to destroy a shield generator, so I think the slots are better spent defending the planet in the first place.

I do see an advanatge if people are using novalith though.

Shield generators prevent 30% bombardment damage to a planet. With research into Superior Planet Shields they get upgraded to 50% and then 80% damage reduction. I think they stack, but I don't know for sure.
