Unable to Install Sins!!

Basically nothing happens... Auto run doesnt work, if I click the autorun button Windows wants to know what to open it with: Explorer, Wordpad etc. Browsing the DVD looking for the setup exe doesnt work either, as the only folder in the directory is the AppData and the computer cant open it.

The game works as my brother installed it and is having fun . I am running an AMD 64 3500+ but as a cousin recently limewired my computer for crap, I've had to purchase a new HD, and have freshly installed Win XP OEM, with a service pack 2 update. Minimal additional updates due to the rumoured (microsoft is slowing down XP with useless updates so that we buy crappy Vista) problem.

Please Help!!

From the same disc? If so that would be really strange. If not, you may just have a bad one. If you've got fast internet though, you can simply register your serial with us and download the whole game via Stardock Central.

Are you sure your not opening the Autorun.ico file? I don't have the CD version (I downloaded mine) but many CD's will have a setup.exe or \install\autorun.exe or something similar on the disc. Right click on the Autorun file and go to properties, verify that the file is indeed an executable.

The other issue may be that your DVD is having trouble reading, a good way to know is to click on the Start button go to Run, type "eventvwr" and check over your event logs for errors (i.e CD drive has a bad block, ect).

One other thing you can try is to open My Computer (or Explorer), copy the entire contents of the DVD to a folder on your computer and run the setup file from there. I know this does not seem very efficient but it's a good way to see if your drive is having read issues.

The fact that Windows is asking what to open the file with has me wondering weather or not your launching the correct file, open the drive up and press F3 (search) and enter "*.exe" in the search. When the search completes try running any files that say "Autorun" or "Setup".

It's possible the DVD went bad. Unusual, but it did happen to me once with Oblivion. Worked fine on first install, months later I could only see a few files and folders on it, and now my PC just churns on it like it' chewing gum.

If worse comes to worse you can always install it over the Internet via Stardock Central or Impulse. You do, of course, need a valid and unique serial number to do this.
