Windows 2000 Compatiblity?

Hi forum,

I'm sorry if I missed this in a previous post (a search of the issue didn't give any results relating to my issue). I was curious if the game was compatible with windows 2000; I've had trouble with certain games and / or software that have said minimum sys. requirements required either windows XP and vista. I was wondering if this would be an issue before buying.

Thanks!

Don't think so. I'm playing it on a Windows Server 2008 and before I've played it on my 2003.

You could try installing the Demo and see how (or if) that runs, obviously though, if you run into issues further down the track nobody is going to be able to do much to help you.

Good luck.

Thanks for the quick replies guys, can't wait to give it a try then. If it doesn't work on my machine I'm sure I'll find someone who will be happy enough to take it off my hands. That or maybe it's finally time to have a reformatting party :D

Thanks again for the quick replies. :D

It may take some workarounds to install, and we won't support it, but some people have done it.

Actually if the installer permits the installation [ Stardock, You've been setting the flags on the installer, if You've set them to allow any-os [[ perhaps without the 9x series ]] ] it will run

NOTE: If the game runs on 98 ME os's then it will run on 2000. It runs on XP so Windows 2003 works. It runs on Vista so it runs on 2008. It ran on NT so it's OK with 95 [ or even 3.11? that would be madness though ]. 99.9% sure it will ran on your 2000 with updated drivers and the newest service pack. [ its around SP 8 now and discontinued right? ]

Ah, got it working. Runs, however the background and images don't seem to want to come up. I'll work on it a little longer.

That's more likely a result of having an old video card (Geforce4 MX cards most particularly).

Yeah, I ordered a new one :) So now I just watch my room mate play...lol. It depresses me greatly! Great game from what I see though!

Finally got the card and installed. STUNNING! My room mate went and got the game after he saw how it looked on my PC. Runs without a glitch! Even with a fleet that took a half an hour to fight one another. Congrats on a very exciting game! well worth the wait and the workaround. thanks to everyone who replied i wouldn't enjoy this as much as i do now w/o you
