How many planets

Hi, can someone tell me what is the largest amount of planets in one game you can get in single player mode? I have read the game engine supports hundreds, but I cant find this in single player game mode. I am sick of games in general having a short life span and thought this game was going to be virtually never ending. I guess I was reminising of the old days and 'Elite'. Any suggestions are appreciated.

The stock maps get to around 100 planets, but you can use the in-game map generator or the external Galaxy Forge to create a map as large as you like.

The engine can support nearly limitless amounts. It's down to your hardware really.

I made a random map that generated 25 stars with 50 planets each.

par481, you may also have missed a button that changes the pregenerated map types from small to medium to large/huge. When starting a new game and selecting a map, under the list of available scenarios there's a button named something like "Change Map Type". Click that and you get some larger scenarios.

Alternatively, use the map designer as suggested above.
