In most cases the crash is caused by a hardware or driver problem. If updating to the latest video drivers doesn't solve the problem, follow kryo's instructions here on how to send the crash report to Ironclad.

There's also the possibility that the problem is the "sync" bug, which affects multiplayer in a small number of instances. Read about that here. A hotfix is due next week to solve this issue.

I agree. A friend and I stopped playing entirely due to the problem. I sent the minidumps into Ironclad for about a week and at this point I'm finished sending anymore. I've updated, downdated, and changed all of my drivers that I could possibly change. Sound, video, ethernet, etc.

Claiming that this is a hardware problem doesn't fit at all with my stance. No other game I have causes such problems.

This is exactly why broadbased PC gaming is going down the toilet. I don't have time to sit here and fiddle with drivers. The fact I have to do it is agonizing and I'm sick of games coming out with constant problems like this.

Give me a CD, let me put it in my console, and no problems. I'm only hanging on to this game because when it is playable, I do enjoy it. How long that feeling lasts remains to be seen.

I had this problem, it became less frequent when I turned off autosave. It happens almost every hour of play. Me and my friends just play for 53 minutes, save, and quit. We wait about 5 minutes, go back on, and continue for another 50 or so minutes. Just keep repeating those steps and minidumps should become almost non-existant online.

For those of you having problems in Multiplayer, you can try out the special sync-fix test build in this thread. It's on page 2 I think, towards the bottom.

So far it seems to have solved the desync issues for all who were having them, and if no more problems with testing crop up, the actual update to the game will be released this week, as Hollow Man mentioned.

The only other known cause of crashes that's on the IC side of the fence is some rare pathfinding bug that's slated to be fixed in v1.1.

Other than these two issues, however, the crashes do indeed seem to be on the user side of things.

what were your system specs? I posted the nvidia beta driver site for the original poster because they likely don't have the betas, and neither do most since I just got a brand spankin new beta driver from nvidia today, umm version...

175.12

Of course, it could be that you are short on memory, or have spyware or viruses, or are playing against other players that don't have the appropriate system specs?? (dunno what happens when only one person has a problem, do they just dump out by themselves, or do they take the whole game down?) I've never crashed while mp, only 1p about 5 times, and only once since putting the beta drivers in.. Heck, you might even have the synch bug that they are talking about.. on the other hand, you might just be too busy to try to help them to make the game better for yourself, and are trying to post it into existence...
ok, everyone close your eyes, and chant in unison.. work work work work work..
A million years ago, my computer programmign teacher told us that it was amazing how many times that people would run defective programs expecting to get different results if they just rant it again and again.. unfortunately, computers tend to just do the same thing given the same program, environment, and data..
PS.. pushing the elevator button or cross walk button a thousand times doesn't make them come any faster, but you can always jay walk or jump out of the window to get there quicker..
wait, I just thought of another idea.. everyone with this "minidump 'bug'" can just post their home addresses and how much they paid for their computers, and I'll get a friend to come over and take care of your computer problems ;S

My Key Specs:

Athlon XP 3000+
2.5GB DDR PC2700
EVGA 256MB GeForce 6800GT
Realtek AC 97 Onboard Audio
Windows XP PRO SP2

While my system hardware may be dated, it's more than adaquate to play just about any game on the market, with the appropriate downgraded tweaks of course for graphics. I regularly play games like Oblivion, Medieval II, C&C, Supreme Commander, Age of Empires III, NWN2, WOW, and Battlefield 2142.

I have NO problems with ANY of them. NONE. No freezing, no luckups, no minidumps. I've run memtest, prime95, and 3DMark overnight with no problems.

When I fire up Sins...minidumps, crashes, rebooting...etc. Sometimes within 5 minutes, sometimes within 2 hours. The problem currently only occurs while playing mulitplayer matches and I've tried the syncfix with no changes occuring. It still crashes.

I've scanned for viruses, I've scanned for adaware, and I'm fairly capable of understanding exactly how well my system is or isn't running. For Sins, it can't stay stable...for everything else, smooth as butter.

As for my friends, they have similar systems or in most cases, greater specs. Some get the dumps too, some don't. Some have vista, some don't. I've updated every driver I can and rolled back every driver. Nothing worked.

It's my personal opinion that it's not my responsibility to fix a game I paid money to play without a hassle. I sent them minidumps for a few days. If they want any more of my time, troubleshooting their product, Ironclad should send me a check.

I haven't had any minidumps, excluding the time when I was modding some of the files.

I had that audio on my last system... an emachine, used to lock when I'd play ffxi all the time, was very frustrating, called their customer support, and they told me I should turn off my firewall :S yeah right.. I personally think that it is evil audio.. so, I bought a soundblaster and put it in, but never went back to ffxi
