I didnt get a Icon or file

When i downloaded "Sins" my computer dint download a icon or a file but it downloaded fine.  So to start the game i simply take the disk in and out.  Ive tried to reinstall but it didnt work.

Did this happen to anyone else?

Can someone tell me how to fix it?

Your message is unclear. Did you install the game from DVD, or download it using Stardock Central or Impulse?

Do you mean that there is no shortcut? Or that there is nothing in the Start menu at all for Sins. You can go look for .exe through My computer, then program files, Stardock games, then Sin of a solar Empire folder. There should be an .exe name Sins of a Solar Empire. Right click that or SINS_Launcher (I'm not sure which one) and click send to, then desktop. That should put a shortcut on you desktop page if that is the problem.

The path is C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Sins of a Solar Empire

It's not SINS_Launcher.exe. This is the one that appears by going through the Start menu. and says it's "Sins of a Solar Empire". It's not, though, it's linked to SINS_Launcher, which appears to do nothing but create a taskbar button and that's it (game doesn't launch). To run the game I too had to eject then reinsert the DVD.

Finally I used Windows Explorer instead. In "Program Files/Stardock Games/Sins of a Solar Empire" its correctly listed as "Sins of a Solar Empire.exe". Once found you can use Send to Desktop to create a shortcut (or just create one in that same directory and then drag it to the desktop).

A little confusing to get setup correctly at first. The installation never created nor prompted me about a shortcut, and, again, trying to launch the game via Start won't work.

I also have to question why SoaSL places an entry into the Windows startup sequence to start automatically on system boot o_O

If you're running Windows Vista, most games don't install a normal icon anymore (its a Games for Windows thing in Vista). If you go to Start > Games, you'll see it in there.

I'm really not sure what it would put in startup though, I don't have anything like that in my installation.

The start menu shortcut is supposed to point to the launcher; if the launcher is not working, chances are you've got an antivirus that's blocking it.

The disc isn't required to play.
