Anyone here played Nexus?

Well, having played this game (not to excess), I realise it is a different scale to sins, but I have to say there are a few features I would liked to have seen in sins. > First one, being moving planets - this was merely a gimmick in Nexus, but could have been really interesting in Sins, breaking chokepoint and allowing for trade routes.shifting alliances etc. > The other one is truly customiseable ship, ie you get a chassis and a selection of weapons, I suppose a bit like ascendancy even [if anyone can remember] Obviously, I know its a real-time large scale game, but really given that the combat can get a bit stale [ie spam + caps], I would have though just a few more realistic options would have made it a lot better. NOt that i don't like it as it is...

Moving planets would have seriously complicated the game. That one's been discussed a couple times, and wouldn't have worked without either making phase lanes vary in length (Oops, my ships are jumping across the entire map! I can't do anything with them for two minutes!) or creating-and-destroying phase lanes ("Oh no! Where do I put my turrets to defend my phase lanes?").

The customizable ship would have been a balancing nightmare and would probably have substantially delayed the game. It's a great idea, but it sure becomes a lot of work in an RTS where you want a lot of different possible paths to victory and not just a single path that always takes you to victory.

Nexus: TJI? Yes and I loved it. I just wished they made Nexus 2 and made it more free roam ish.

Well;

1. Make LRMs
2. Make HCs
3. ????
4. Profit.

I can see where things could get, OP, but I would have thought simple cost balancing in the Beta would have solved that.

To be honest, the whole phase lanes thing bugs me, it doesn't really give you the feel of a star system more like a risk board. I suppose in general though, given the pace of the game, even a significantly more complex system [particularly economically, actually] would not have required you to have PP-style levels of micro. And there's no reason why, like pirates, the game settings couldn't be customizeable.

i thought nexuse was a game that was good for watching the combat scenes more so than actually playing it. I mean, as soon as the combat begins, it felt like a sci-fi show.

Nexus was the best looking Fleet Simulator I have ever seen. I prefered the Homeworld style 4X gameplay.

I loved NEXUS. I just wished it was more open ended instead of being all story line missions.
