Command and Conquer mod?

I know, just hear me out

I'm not sure how many people here have played a C&C game, how many have actually played a true C&C game pertaining to the Tiberium Wars, and how many people actually liked the games (C&C3 doesn't necessarily count).

What I was thinking was since GDI already has begun to enter space, what with (possibly) interstellar missile capability and stations in space (albeit the Philadelphia was destroyed, but the fact still stands), The Brotherhood of Nod, being as sneaky as possible, has begun to work on their space-faring skills, especially with that darned Ion Cannon foiling their plans. ^^ Of course, C&C has not progressed to the point where ships and intergalactic warfare would be possible, so maybe we'll move time up past the Third Tiberium War maybe 30 or 40 years (2142 would be roughly 82 years, for those who like EA connections).

I know, I know, if we move time forwards, military doctrines and ideas may change, resulting in a drastic shift in ship design and firepower. Who knows? Maybe Nod will end up will the huge, god-moddy ship, while GDI will take it down with 150 smaller, more manuverable ships (a la Revolucion).

Now for content:

Provided military doctrines and designs wouldn't change in all that time, all factions (perhaps including the Scrin, which of the three would be the easiest, since [I think] we see their ships in C&C3) would have their buildings designed in their motif.

GDI would have their signature gold and white and possibly blue structures all blocky and industrialized, with slower build times than the other two factions, but with massive, pompous, belligerent ships. I suppose GDI would be the least technically advanced of the three factions, but with only an empiric margin between NOD and GDI. The same would be for ships. Since the UN cut funding for the GDI, they've been shying away from the more advanced tech, to more conventional stuff. In space, that might not cut it, so it could be back to sonic pulses and advanced lasers for them, to keep up and to keep balancing issues straight. We could implement an autocannon like system for GDI, or we could maybe do a sort of Minmatar-Caldari type of tech, like from EVE. Relatively weak in the beginnig, but packing a hard punch later ingame.

NOD would have their infamous Red and black motif (with color accents depending on the player's color) on their quasi-organic looking ships with their colonized planets having a darker tone to them. I was also thinking about the voices of the units. obviously, Nod would have a sort of... brainwashed, blind follower sort of tone. I suppose we could rip voices out of ther previous C&C games (a LOT of stereo mixing). The Nod weapons would be the standard beams and weird design, like the Nod Obelisk. Nod traditionally is a guerilla warring faction, so fast, light attack crafts for true hit and runs on planets and on blockades/enemy formations.

Scrin...
Hmm, I'm not too sure how we'd go about with the Scrin. Anyone who's played C&C3 should input ideas for design about the Scrin.

This is all speculatory, but I think this mod could be really good.

It would be interesting to see a C&C that was spaced based compared to the decade of ground based warfare!

Very cool idea, hope people get this one rolling.

P.S. I just realized that seeing how the space aspect of C&C is very limited, would this alo mean that the mod would be forced into an un-canon position? Hope it works out either way.

sounds lie it could be intresting. But I reckon Red alerts Allies Vs Soviets would be better even if it is because it doesn't include the Scrin

Problem is, that there is very little source material. C&C has never had space battles (except the soviet moon mission in YR), so it might be difficult to get the ship designs have the right feel.

Scrin's ships from Tiberium wars could used as they are, but they would need more ships as well. (BTW, Scrin have that cyborg bug look, like the striders, gunships and dropships in Half-Life 2.)

It would be cool to see spaceship version of a mammoth tank, though.

Anyway, good luck, if someone tries this.

C&C, Dune2, that one like it with the space bugs (star-something)

All of them had the enemy bases already built from the start, and the emenies didn't build bigger bases, this was the flaw of the game, but it made for some interesting opportunities for modification, like copying the fleet data from the enemy base and giving yourself a full base to start with...

It would be MUCH better in Sins, since Sins doesn't do that... oh wait, the local militias, but I'm SO GLAD the proper enemy players start the same as human players, and build their forts as they should!

Oh, if you want a Sins Mammoth, just put windows on a planet!

I realized that there's minute amounts of source material pertaining to space, but we should try to use our prior knowledge about these 2 (or 3) factions to build ourselves the new ships.

If we want to turn GDI 100% evil, we'll slap a huge laser and a couple windows onto a planet and start waiting 5 hours for it to move across the gravity wells =)

Another thought, we could take textures or maybe frames of the already existing vehicles on the ground, and visually modify them to look a little more futuristic, and we could slap some jets on them too.

We could possibly steal a couple of designs from Halo 2 for Scrin/Nod from the Covenant and the Marines ships for GDI, and maybe a couple design elements from the Combine for Scrin or Nod, as well.

How would we put The Allies and the Soviets into the air that fast?

Yuri's faction is probably mining asteroids as we speak.

Helio, I beleive you're talking about StarCraft, too.

Unfortunately the only way to have a DUNE space mod is to make it Fanon. The ONE and ONLY space fleet is the guild. No others are allowed.

Starcraft, yes... little armored soldiers that show a graphic of where they took too much damage...

To make SINS into a "BaseBuilding" game, we would have to make the logistics points infinite, but do something about having too much defense.

Is it possible to make it so that you can build anything you want at a planet, AND make it so that you can't make ..UBER defenses??? (without severely limiting the Military Logistics points)

There must be another factor in this equation...

Hmm, well we could just rename the Civilian slots to Military, and turn the Military slots to "defense" slots. We have the Civ slots infinite (for buildings such as the War Factory/Shipyard and Tech Building/Military Labs), while the defense is limited. Not sure if this is possible, but it could work.

Another thing: we don't necessarily have to turn it into a base-building game; we could just show how the UN and possibly Nod had to evacuate the Earth because the Earth was quickly being turned into a giant Red Zone, all thanks to the Scrin.

In short, Sins with a C&C Flavor. We keep colonization (albeit a little different to compensate for the C&C Universe) and we don't have to make it as linear.

*bump*

Come on guys!

Is no skinner/other modder going to speak up or offer any time to this project?
