Odd LAN Sync Issue

Hola,

Was playing my son via LAN with v1.5, Kronac's Cross, Pirate's Inactive everything else set to normal. We are playing Advent on Team 1 versus Random for Team 2 & 3. Using Teamspeak to communicate with headsets.

He call's out to me that my Progenitor is about to get crushed by and attack and I check the Asteriod that I'm at and it's clear, he continues to insist I'm gonna die, so I get up and check his computer. Sure enough I'm getting hammered, but when I go back to my system, nothing.

Tested it a second time and same thing happened, the first game we paused it to go eat supper then returned. The second time, no pause was done.

Any ideas ??

This was a very elusive issue and I could've sworn the devs pinned it down, but apparently not. Please zip and send any saves/autosaves/replays from the game from both machines in to [email protected] to help the devs figure this out.

Sure,

Now, should we start the game and have each user do a "Record"?

All games are automatically recorded when the game ends. So long as the recordings cover the entire game, start to finish (you did not save then resume from the save), the devs should be able to run them side-by-side and see where it split.

You should be able to find them in the following location (depending on OS):

Vista:
C:\Users\your username\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\AutoRecord-MultiPlayer

XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\your username\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\AutoRecord-MultiPlayer

Please note that some of these directories are hidden by default. To unhide them, go to Control Panel -> Folder Options -> View and set yourself to view hidden files and folders.

Ran into this same issue last night playing with my friend over the internet (him hosting, not using the servers). It looks like our game split about 15 minutes in.

We can still chat in-game, see rankings and statistics, and get broadcast messages. What we see on screen is different, however. I can't see any advancements, colonizations, fleets, or battles since where the game split into two "alternate realities."

Should we send our recorded games in?

Thanks.

Yep, if you have recorded games from the very beginning up to and beyond the split from both machines, send them in to IC support as above.

I am gettign the same thing, me and my brother play on lan, then one of us will lag out, causing us to disconnect. But we both keep playing and it seems like nothin happened. But it says to each of our computers that the other lagged out. But we are on lan and I know this shouldnt be happenening.

Since the CPU is the single most taxed piece of hardware when playing SINS it's more than likely that late-game (with hundreds of calculations per second etc.) CPU-lag is causing your desync rather than network latency.

Having said that, please ensure you're running game version 1.05

1.05 here, and as both me and my friend are using nice high powered systems, i would sinserely hope that that isnt whats causing it, otherwise thats a serious problem to have at this point

@Roadrunner

Actually, I've got a very, VERY high powered system, but it still can eat CPU like crazy.  Sins is a CPU hog, especially in the later parts of games.  Not that that is entirely a bad thing (amazing graphics!!!!!!)
