Black Screen, Black Screen, Crash

After playing about 20minutes to an hour, the game will suddenly go to a black screen (for about 10 seconds) then go back to the game, just like nothing happened.  I'll keep playing, and about 10-15 minutes later, it will go to a black screen again but this time it crashes me to desktop. The computer hasn't frozen at all, everything else is fine, the game just crashed and closed.  If I try to go play again, the same crap will happen.

It has been like this in the game since version 1.00 retail.  I have since been downloading every patch that has been coming out, hoping that Stardock would fix this issue eventually.  It's now up to 1.05 and the same exact thing still happens.

I play a ton of other games that require way more memory and graphics power, such as CRYSIS on full res/settings, MTWII on full res, Counter-strike Source, all the FEAR's, WoW, Eve-online, half-life 2, C&C 3, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2, UT3, TF2  and many many more. And I play all these games on the highest graphical setting output and highest resolution. With all game settings to the max ,in every way possible.  None lag one bit, let alone crash.  They all work perfect.

But for some reason, this little game from Stardock, is acting like a piece of junk. I am really disappointed with the developers.  I've went through all the "fixes" for the crashing this little forum has but none work at all. Nothing changes.  And this latest patch doesnt fix crap.

I feel your pain. Mine crashes and my computer locks up. Sometimes it crashes in the menus sometimes an hour into a game. It is fun while I'm playing it.

What are your computer specs?
Noone can help you without those.
Fill out this form:

Maker:
Processor:
Hard Drive:
Ram:
Build:
Software:
Version:
Graphics Card:
Sound Card:
Other (important things I might need to know)

Note:
If your computer has a dual core processor, triple core, etc., that may be your problem.
If your computer is, then follow these instructions:

1. Launch game
2. Once the intro videos have ended, and you have been brought to the main menu:
3. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL and wait for the program to minimize and open up the task manager.
4. Goto PROCESS and then find a program with SINS in the name (SINS.exe or something like that)
5. Right-click the program and select SET AFFINITY from the menu that appears.
6. In the box that appears, untick all the boxes except the one marked "0"
7. Hit OK
8. Close the task manager and try the game, you will have to repeat this process every time you launch the game if the problem does not persist.

Sounds like a driver reset on Vista with nVidia video. In which case, update your drivers.

the official ones on thier site from the 16th of may fixed the UI flickering and the freezing and crashing to desktops so looks like it was a nvidia/vista conflict

I'll second the advice re Nvidia drivers. I had the same frustrating problems from day one, but the latest (mid May) Nvidia driver release solved it 100%. I hope it does the trick for you.

the problem seems to be from the 7 or before series of nvidia cards and vista
