Bug (?) with solar phase lanes

Ships wont jump...

Hello,

I was just wondering whether the following happened with anybody else or if theres a known solution or something:

having recently got the game, i started the first game with multiple stars. Started researching the tech that lets you jump to "distant stars" (not the wormhole one), not knowing what it did. I was first disappointed that nothing seemed to be happening, then noticed that my scouts (on auto-explore) actually use this, despite no phase lanes showing on the interface. Fair enough.

The problem is that none of my other ships seemed to be able to move between stars, despite PLOTTING THEIR COURSE THROUGH THEM. I had first a cap, then a colony frigate, then an entire fleet stuck after giving a move order, since they plotted theeir course through the star and then couldnt phase further.

Now, if they simply cant phase through stars, it wouldnt make sense for them to plot their course through. i was able to circumvent the situation by simply waypointing them the long way around, but that of course took ages.

It was on the map "Derelict", i was playing advent.

If anyone knows what was going on there, thanks a lot.

I'm not sure I follow... If you right-click on the gravity well that you'd like to travel to, your ships should go there using the fastest route (wormholes excluded) provided you have the ncessary research.

What exactly isn't working? What do you mean by plotting a course 'through' the star?

I'm not quite sure what you meen by "through" the stars, but if you mean what I think you mean, then this might be your problem.

When phasing between stars, it's not like a wormhole. Don't make a move order end at the center of the sun's gravity well. Instead, treat the stars like planets. When your ships are at one star, tell them to move to the other star. They should move to the edge of the well and jump automatically. And don't worry about not seeing solar phase lanes. They're always invisible (at least for me) and only extend to other stars.

Hope this helps.

Sorry for not being quite clear. What i meant is: i give the move order to a gravity well in another solar system, the pathfinding automaticaly checks for the shortest route, which gets displayed on the interface as a shiny blue line. This line goes to the nearest star, from there to another star, and then onwards. However, when the ships reach that first star, they don't follow the plotted course onwards to the next star, they just sit.

By going "through" a star i just meant that the shortest route leads through a star's gravity well, as opposed to the visually shorter route going around several planets and a "normal" phase lane to the other system

anyways, tried to recreate the problem and it worked fine... so im gonna assume it was just a freak error of sorts... thanks for replying though

You HAVE to go through a star. Those are the connections between solar systems. There is no other option. Every single star can phase to every single star though. That is how the game is made. Hope that resolved your problem :D

Well, on the map derelict they did a weird little thing where that is not the case, it is a multi-star system. And yeah it is really annoying and makes for some strange pathfinding. I'm not surprised he had problems with it, I don't know that the game handles multi-star systems very well (not to mention the second star is almost below the first one so the phase lane between planets from each is almost vertical, which also leads to some strange pathfinding and unusually fast phase travel).
