Are LRM broken?

I really think LRM are broken they do way more dmg than they are supposed to be doing what it says int he game. do they do dmg per missle? and if not how do I counter them early game from TEC if I am Vasari. I keep losing every 30-40 mins because a player rushes me with 20-30 LRMs. plus I think LRMs should cost a hell lot more than they do now if they are that good. LRMs pratically destory everything.

As Vasari get as many assailants out as possible. Add the carrier with it's healing ability asap. DONT FOCUS FIRE THE CAP.... kill the frigs first. If you don't have the upper hand fight on the defensive under repair plats and defense turrets. Don't get discouraged. You sound sorta new. What replays from mp games in single player mode.

20-30 LRMs early game should be no problem.

scout ahead so you know that's what opponent is building.

then build 35-50 scouts, and turn them on auto-attack.

the scouts will win, cost you less, and be faster to build. then counterattack with LRM's of your own or focus on economic expansion.

of course, if he's just got a bigger economy, than you need to work on strategies for ramping that up quicker.

Thats a bad idea. Its better to just do what the game sadly intends for you to do and thats make 20-30 LRMs yourself and simply out-spam/out-micro him.

You need to used the wealth of upgrades. Lrms are mostly fine with the exception of the illuminator. Which are balanced in the aspect of cost. Combat power is a different story. What is missing with the lrf's is a solid cost for cost counter. Face if your playing maps where you can be rushed. You can only make a few ship types. It's gonna be a spam fest. Learn it live it do it.

why choose a counter-strategy that costs equal as cmpared to a counter fleet that costs significantly less?

It's only a mistake if you're wrong and the opponent is not massing LRM's. The only danger is building too many scouts, which are useless against anything else.

but a mixed force of LRM's and scouts is far superior to an opponent's LRM force in this early game scenario.

If your enemy is far enough I would go for HC instead. Then follow it up with support cruisers once I turn his first wave or destroy it. Once he realizes how out teched he is he will try to catch up but it will be too late. Enforcer + Subverter = Sick, Kodiak + Hoshiko also sick!
