Crashes at single-player start.

A little more definite than some of these other crash reports, the last two times I've tried to play in the full game (since I bought it -- these are the only two games I've tried to start after the demo) have crashed very early on. The map is Random - Small, and the first time, it crashed without the CD, second time, with the CD in the drive.

I'm running on Vista, if that helps. Brand new install, Halo 2 is crashing as well. >.< Probably unrelated, since that crashes after about and hour.

Graphics: GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB
Sound: Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic
Proc: AMD Athlon 4200+ 2.2 GHz dual-core
RAM: 2.5 GB DDR1

Yeah, I think I should be able to run the game fine.

And this is a brand-new install of Vista, so my drivers are up-to-date. I even let Vista do an extra check for me just now.

The game doesn't require the disc to play, so that'd be a non-factor. Make sure you've patched the game up to 1.05 though, as that most certainly can be a factor.

It's at 1.05, I downloaded the 1.05 bonus pack immediately after I registered. Today, I'm going to uninstall and try playing the CD version with no patch.

Hi,

Is the resolution in the game set the same as your desktop resolution? I found my game was crashing because of a difference in this.

Confirmed 1.05 is crashing, 1.00 is not. And yes, 1440x900 is my desktop (monitor's native), and that's what I run the game at. Everything at Highest, Bloom enabled, runs extremely well.

I'm having this same problem but about 30 min in. It seems to be running perfectly with not noticable problem then it just freezes and I can't do anything but restart my computer. I have the 1.05 patch too and my comp has 2.2 ghz processor with dual 7900 gts nvidia graphics cards. I was playing on a small random map too, is that it?

If you get a minidump, send the file referenced in that message in an email to [email protected]. They will check it out and let you know if there's anyhting you can do to fix it on your end.

I actually sent one of the crashes through Xfire, are you guys getting feedback off of their crash detection software?

Doubtful. Please send minidumps to IC support directly.

Also note that Xfire itself has been known to cause crashes where otherwise there would be none, so you might try playing with Xfire not running.

I have basically the same system as SharkyRockon. It worked flawlessly until I installed 1.05 and now it is unplayable. It crashes 5 seconds or less in to any single player game (if I can make it through the main menu without crashing).

I am using ForceWare 175.16

Yep, I'm still having this problem where even on the lowest settings my game still crashes at least 15 minutes into the game, freezing my entire computer and forcing me to restart the system manually.

I am having the same issue with XP. It runs fine if I put it in windowed mode.
But full screen it will lock up, if I move the mouse the cursor will sit there for about 15 seconds before it moves. I saw a post that going back to 174.X drivers fixed it. So I installed the latest 174.X. It definately got better, I started a saved game I had and it worked great for about an hour. Then I was going to go into the menu for something, as soon as I clicked menu the menu came up and it froze.
