Max Galaxy Size?

So, does anyone happen to know the maximum size of a galaxy?

I wanted to create a map with stars that are very very far apart to make it more realistic to real life space.

I just wasn't sure how far I should push the limits of how far apart stars are.

Does anyone know the max size of a map ?  Or is it just unlimited? if it is unlimited, what do you suggest is the "max" size for a computer to handle?

For example if one stars location is coords 1000,1000 and another star is 1000000000,1000000000.  is that going too far? i thought i would ask before i tried.

thx

by increasing the distance between the planets, you also increase the time for a phase jump. if your using galaxy forge, you can manually place the planets where ever you want them to be. i'm not sure on the exact numbers.

Open Galaxy Forge and use mouse-wheel to scroll to 1x zoom level. Place 2 stars at opposite corners. Done.

You can set the scale of the map up or down from the default 25000; this "Controls how big the galaxy. Large values will spread out your galaxy."

You could mouse-wheel scroll to 1.0x zoom level, place 2 stars at opposite corners and bump the scale level to 100000, but when travelling between stars it might take your 38 hours to do it. Enjoy testing it out. You'll understand why I through out a seemingly arbitrary number like 38 hours ;)

38 hours lol i was trying to find a distance of about 45 minutes to an hour between stars. giving star distances more realism and making you think twice about just jumping to a star randomly. (this is in a map with no wormholes)

so far the highest that has seemed to work is a distance of 999,999,999 after that (1,000,000,000) the map doesnt seem to work....

anyone else test this?

also, about zooming, it only lets me zoom out a tiny bit (Relative), nothing extreme. i make the galaxy bigger by increasing star distances, that seems to do the trick
