Halo:Sins of the Prophets mod {MOD for SoaSE}

As my other posts about mods come from www.modb.com so does this one. This mode is in early stages of development and has started not more then week ago.A Halo mod for the critically acclaimed Sins of a Solar Empire, that aims to capture the fast paced intensity of the Halo series. The sides will be the UNSC and the Covenant with the forerunners/sentinels and the flood acting as non-playable factions. The custom created maps will revolve around the destruction/detonation of the Halo's depending on your faction while the original maps will have the feel of Sins but with Halo flavor.

I guess we all have been waiting for this so here are some pictures:

These pictures are all they got for now, there still hasen't been a beta relase of this mod.

I could be wrong, but there is already a halo mod that has mad considerable progress. why not get with them and release faster than individually?

lol. You should probably create your own topic, since afaik, your the halo mod leader. This way you won't have this to deal with, and you can update us easily. ;)

No need for 3 halo threads, this is one still about his mod so it really doesn't matter WHO posts it. The only advantage of Canada posting would mean he could edit the main post, but that isn't exactly needed. So let's just use this.

Btw Adama, I haven't heard of another Halo mod for Sins, let alone one further along. The only other Halo mods I know of are for EAW, and Homeworld. So yeah...... unless Canada wants to ditch Sins, kinda hard to "work with them". Allthough from what I've read the EAW mod is helping with models n skins, I think.

No i think that Adama thought that my mod and my moddb page were two different mods. And yeah there are only two other games that people are currently making halo mods for.

If you want a fast paced-game, make ships cheap, with overpowered weapons and low shields and low hull (so they explode right away)

Well there won't really be any gameplay changes in the first beta (mostly just new models for the new sides) but later on it's gonna get *intense*

also, how is the gameplay modding going to work? Halo space combat and Sins space combat use entirely different methods of killing: i.e. UNSC ships have nukes, no lasers, point defense (every single one, there is no one "flak frigate"), MAC cannons (again, all have at least one, strength varies per size of ship), and most ships have a complement of fighters, UNSC doesn't use ship shielding, and each ship has limited missiles. In addition, only the covenant use planetary bombardment. Since the UNSC hasn't found a covenant world which isn't a factory, they have only sent strike teams to take back the planets over which battles have been fought.
Also, UNSC has limited ammo (downside of projectiles)
Covenant ships - more powerful weapons, actually have shields, stronger armor, better engines, infinite ammo (lasers, plasma), boarding craft, and faster slipspace drives
Speaking of slipspace, how is that going to work? is it going to be a researchable tech, which is slower than phasing, but can go anywhere? one could make a feasible system that way.

The most realistic (to the canon) way to get this all to work is to make the UNSC ships about 1/3 the price of the Covenant ones.


I imagine it is possible to make this all work, and I look forward to the end result, but this mod is going to take a lot of work to pull off.

overlordjebus here, im from Broken Line Studios, the team behind Halo HomeFront, the mod for homeworld 2?

Since we get alot of questions asked whether we are going to move to sins of a solar empire or not, I just want to ask if its ok that we point them in your direction when questioned ^^

I saw the Alpha Gameplay Trailer.

 

Cool, except:

1)It looked like the ships were moving back and forth while traveling. Glitch, or lag?

2) The missiles were extremely fast, too fast. Tone the speeed down a bit.

Wow didn't expect to see anyone post on THIS thread! I have already addressed the missile issue and the ships were probably just doing that because of lag (it doesn't do that normally ;P ).
