um... calm down man, you don't need to put galaxy forge into the sins directory..you can have it anywhare..but be sure to save your maps to the Galaxy folder in:

C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Galaxy

for some strange reason by default my maps were being saved to Users folder..or something like that.

Make sure you have .net 2.0 installed, as GF requires it. If you don't have it, a google seach should quickly turn up the download on microsoft's site.

Heeey... while we're on the subject of mapmaking...

So I made this totally awesome 1v1 map yesterday, but each time I try to play my map, I choose my race, map settings, etc, and hit the load button... but it minidumps as soon as it starts loading up :(

Anyone know what I am doing wrong, or what I may do to fix this???

If you're getting a dump on loading a map, chances are there is a syntax error in it (very possible if you did any manual editing on it, rather than pure GF work).

@ Peststa:

Make sure you have more then one player assigned to a world through the 'owner' field.
You also have to make sure 'ishomeplanet' is marked true (this is where either of the
two factions start at.

If your running in windows xp, go to my computer (or windows explorer), and look for a
folder in c:\ directory called "documents and settings". Right click it and select
search. What your looking for is a folder called Ironclad. The reason we are searching
it, cause the folder that it is in doesn't show up if you try to look for it manually.
Two Ironclad folders will come up, make sure you select the one that has the Local
settings in the folder location. Lastly, navigate that through the SOASE main folder, and
you'll find a folder called Galaxy. Put your newly made maps here.

If you download new mods like Seven Deadly Sins or Lost_WLD's graphic mods, you'll need
to put their resources in a folder called mods. you will then before hand need to create
a folder in the name of the mod for SOASE to register it.
