What was that noise?
(Silence)
Oh, well if it was silence
why did I
hear it?
(You didn't)
Oh, what did
I hear?
(Nothing)
What does
nothing sound
like?
(Silence)
Oh.

Perhaps the sound of silence is nothing.
Nothing is quite loud and oppresive.
Even someone living with nothing needs something.
Without it, there is no need to live.

I wish I could put poetry to words. I feel like I've got some beautiful things in my head, but if I put them to words, it never comes out the way I imagine. Sometimes I work tirelessly to perfectly, flawlessly describe the vision in my head, but I go back, read it, second guess, and erase the words and the thought altogether.

Never thought it was a cry for help, simply a poem of pure emotion. Good ones always are...I guess in some ways they all are good.
No one, including the author, views the writing the same way. It is something to someone and different for someone else.
Often I suprise myself when I re-read one of my poems. I have 6 books full of them starting in 1997 and it seems that I wrote one after another, poems/a type of journal, and never looked back. Now that I am I can't believe what I wrote and I look at them in a new light...unfortunatly I can't fully see them in the same light they were composed in.

well now, I have to say that I hate the Yanks too but if they do beat Boston. ( BIG IF DAMN IT) then good. I hope they are worn out for the WS, just like they were before.

That's my favorite scenario. It hits both fans where it hurts. Sox fans get hit because of the curse. Yanks fans get it for having 'the best team money can buy' and still losing!

Not me. SFC C (that blogs here at JU) is a different guy in a different unit. I don't know him personally, but I do know some of the guys he works with. I'm a SSG. We had a different SFC C (doesn't blog here at JU) that was overall NCOIC for funeral detail, but at the actual funerals, I was the NCOIC.

Well im both sad and proud that you have that duty to perform. I too know what it feels like to attend a military casualty ceremony. When my unit lost many soldiers in one incident in Iraq last year, two of which were very good friends of mine, we had one ceremony for all of them at the same time. At first I said to myself that I would not cry, and just honor their memory. Alas I, and my entire Battalion cried. Silently of course as you know. Man after man went to the podium and told their story of the soldiers. What hurt the most I think was when 1Sgt Nagel, of C Battery did roll call. "CPL Uhl?"....."CPL Eugene Uhl"....."CPL Eugne Thomas Uhl ! "......"Drop from rolls"
Turned and saluted the the M-4,boot, dogtag, kevlar combo and taps played. That was it for all of us. And to add to our anger at that moment we heard three explosions and statico gunfire about 400 meters away. General Petraus and Col Anderson where there. None of us moved, just honored them.
