Space rangers 2 Reboot: Crash with Unique Ships (Possible fix included)
from
Stardock Forums
I was playing the new expansion of Space rangers 2, and in my new game I just got some messages that some unique ships/hulls had been build, one of the new features of the expansion pack. However, when I inquired about the unique ship/hull at the space station, the game immediately crashed.
About the crash:
- Trying it again did not work, it crashed every time.
- Going to one of the other space stations and checking on their unique ship crashed too.
- Loading an old existing savegame of pre-expansion, waiting for an unique ship to be build, and asking about it crashed the game.
- The same thing happened when I tried it out on my laptop, which had a completely separate install.
So I posted here to ask whether someone IS capable of inquiring about the unique hulls without the game crashing.
For testing purposes, here is a savegame you can use to test the bug:

Now, I tried to fix the bug, by "hacking" the executable file with a hex editor. I'm not sure it is fully working, since I have no savegame in which I meet the requirements to buy any of the unique ships, but at least it no longer crashes for me. You can download the "fixed" executable I created here:

Edit: That fix was indeed not truly working. I replaced it with a true fix.
