Missions? Quests? Story line?

Hi All, I searched for an answer in the forums but did not see one. If I have missed it please point me to it! I was *rather* surprised that 'out of the box' (I dl it - fully paid for) there are no set missions in the form of a story. I was really hoping for some sort of story beyond the intro movie. I've played many games from the very old Red Alert, Warcrafts, C&C series, Earth 21XX, Star Wars, X2/3, Homeworld etc etc (yeah I need a life haha). Just about all of those have set missions that you can play for ages. Then you can play maps if you are still engaged. I really do enjoy playing maps, but really like to finish the missions first. Have I really missed something here? Admittedly I've been out of the RTS arena for a couple of years, I've been playing Warcrack (don't kill me). Thanks TB

Nope. I personally am hoping it's in the expansion, but some disagree.

You are correct in that they have none currently. The decision was made to remove the campaign mode to prevent pushing the release date back further (small company -> need money). There are posts about this, but they're all rather old.

That said, they acknowledge the lack of a campaign as being a flaw. IIRC, they intend to include a full campaign in an expansion pack. Originally, I think the ETA for that was late this year, but I'd guess that's rather optimistic. Posts related to this are rather old as well, and I also can't find the link to the announcement of the expansion. Maybe Kryo, FrogBoy, or one of the forum regulars can clue you in further.

I assume that the campaign and possibly the new race will be the focus of the expansion. That being said, the campaign will probably be quite long. I'd like to see a campaign making tool added onto the galaxy forge to keep us occupied while we wait for the expansion.

I think early '09 is a better guesstimate. I remember Frogboy said if it was up to him it'd be end of 08, but he also noted that there's going to be some pretty major competition around then (Starcraft 2 and such).

Oh well, at least I am comforted that I have not overlooked something :P

The Campaing editor is a really good idea ParDream.

I look forward to the expansion then - hoping it has campaigns!
