My multiplayer game broken by modding? Please help.

            So, here is what happened.

I started modding my game, by following the directions in the documentation about placing the mod files.  I changed a bit of info with the Capital ships (made them more expensive), fixed (maybe) the Marza’s missile barrage, and added one research ability to the Tech and Vasari (increased research rate).

I also created a map using GF and had all planets on default template (I couldn’t get the ones I created to work).

We started a game (us vs. 7 unfair opponents) and then my buddy tells me that he is the target of the pirates, but so was I.  In fact, each of us only showed themselves as having a bounty and being the target, but each person showed the other one as having no bounty at all.  That was when I started wondering what was going on.

Then a few minutes later he was talking about being attacked at two planets at the same time….but I couldn’t see any attack at his planets on my computer.  I turned around and looked at his computer and could see the two groups attacking.  We then checked and he could only see half of the attacking force that I was dealing with.

We dropped out of the game, and turned off the mod that I had created and started the same map over (new game, not loaded).  This time through we did get our asses kicked but we didn’t have any problems with the two games not being linked.

Has anyone ever had problems with this before?  Right before we played I copied my mod directly out of the game folder into one I created on his system, I did the same with the game map.

Any help would be appreciated greatly.

Some people have reported uncaught desyncs on LAN games, but the devs have as yet been unable to pin down the cause. Please send your mods, recorded games, and saves zipped up to [email protected] to provide further context to look into this issue.

Wow, thanks. I don't know if I have a saved game, but I'll see what I can do.

Do you have any suggestions?

Could it work other times? Or would only having the modded files in the mod folder help?

Can't really say, like I noted above the devs haven't figured out the cause of it, or why the game doesn't catch it. But more info is better than less.
