Make the map with starting positions (making sure to use the latest GF version).

Put the map into the Galaxy folder in your Sins install directory (not the user path).

Find the map in the list among all the other maps in-game, it won't be in the Custom Maps section.

Play map :)

Right click on the game icon and select Properties. It will show you the path where it's installed.

The default path varies depending on if you installed it from disc or SDC/Impulse.

It is where the game is installed at--if you look at your game shortcut, right click it and choose Properties, you'll see the path there that you can go to in windows explorer to find it. By default it is something like C:\Program Files\Stardock\Totalgaming\Sins of a Solar Empire\.

I can't get mine to appear. I've made about 5 maps, but none show up in the list in-game.
They're in the Galaxies folder though.

-Make sure they're in the install path Galaxy folder. Not your user path where you put mods and things.
-Make sure when you open the map file in notepad, the versionNumber is 1
-Make sure you're looking for them among all the other maps (when you create GF maps you set the # of players, and the game puts it in the various categories). It will NOT be shown in the "custom" maps section.

What version of the game are you using? My default is like c:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Sins of Solar Empire\
