Damage Calculation

Has anyone figured out how exactly the damage done by ships is calculated?

- Does a "Bank" correspond to a weapon-XY point?

- I came to belive that the burstcount does only change the visual effect, am i right?

Well I'm not entirely sure how it works either, but the damage corresponds to the direct power of the weapon, research bonuses, and I think to the "good against" type. I think these are multipers that determine what the ship would be even better against. Yes I think burstcount is related to the visual effect.

Don't just take my word for it though, wait until someone else who is sure comes along.

Im not sure how it calculates average damage or how crtical hits are used.

But bank refers to front/back/left/right as it says next to it. Each fire point can be of those four. A volly or burst uses each fire point in the bank its fireing, so 3 bursts means fire each fire point 3 times (and you can control the delays to make interesting ripple effects).

Im pretty sure the fire points and bursts 'dont' effect the damage but im pretty sure the cool down time does (effect damage per shot that is, not average damage).

I would like more info my self.
