does stardock have what i need

i dont know what section to put this in so sorry if its posted incorectly. i am running winxp pro what i want to do is put my desktop icons the main ones (int.expl. my doc. my comp. ect.) into a wallpaper/background picture i have.. for example lets say i have a square as a wallpaper/background image i would like to be able to scroll over one corner of the square and i can click and have it open up my internet explorer another corner opening up my computer so on and so forth. i hate icons  i havent any icons on my desktop except for the normal ones. so my question is does stardock offer anykind of software to do that with. im a noob when it comes to customizing my windows so i need some help.. i would appreciate it thanks.........if you know of anyother software that can help if stardock doesnt have what i need that be cool to thanks

You could try a program called ObjectDock. WWW Link It's kind of like the Apple dock where you can put all your icons on a dock and have it hidden on one of the four sides of the screen or have a dock on all four sides. There is a free version you can try or you can buy the Plus version. Check out the link.

i take it thats what docking is. ive seen some flash web pages set up the way i want my desktop set up i thought i was gonna have to flash my desktop sort of speak

I understand now you want DesktopX WWW Link It looks a little complicated but what you want to do is very simple.

you can also use DesktopX to create icons that are invisible until mouseover

you can also Iconx to make the icons and text transparent until mouse over

thanks for the info i'll try desktopx and see if its what im looking for. what you mentioned bichur sounds the easiest just to make the icons invisible till i pass over them.. it could problably get alittle tricky to try to turn parts of a background/wallpaper into links or shortcuts..thanks again

IconX would be the easiest if you wish to keep all the icons on the desktop

with desktopx you would have to hide the desktop icons then use desktopx to create those you want

Yes it can be tedious as it was with my lcars DX desktop theme. but it can be very rewarding in the aspect that it allows you to integrate your wall in to more of an active part of the desktop. cutting the wall sections in to bits then setting them as shortcuts to the various items you wish to launch takes time and effort. but in its self its IMO most rewarding.. good luck on your endeavor
