Game will not start

Hi all,

 

Just bought the DVD game at the weekend, installed it but wont start.... tried installing from stardock and impulse interfaces same result - flash of black screen then quarter of desktop covered by black and game hangs. Shut game down and a minidump is created. Done the email your minidump and dxdiag in but do not hold much faith in them getting back promptly. cant find the user settings folder though......

Running folowing system

Vista ultimate 64

Asus max formula with 2.4g intel quad core

Ati 3870x2

4gig mem and raid 1tb samsungs

 

help please this looks soo good to play

I am having the same issue as the original poster.

Our only thing in common is a 64-bit Vista operating system. I am running Service Pack 1, not sure if he is though.


I get a black screen upon running the program, and a "SinsofaSolarEmpire.exe has caused an error" window behind the crashed application.

I did not have this problem several months ago, when I had the game installed without Service Pack 1. I think the relationship is unlikely, but im open to suggestions.


Right clicking "Run As Administrator" or not on the application seems to have no effect. With either patch v1.5 installed, or the out-of-box version seem to have no difference.


A few months ago, I could run the game with the release installed version and update it in-game, without updating out of game.


I'll try to disable my Anti-Virus, and see if that corrupted the installation.

-- (I apologize for the double posting ahead of time, but thought it was necessary to seperate the 2 post objectives)


Reinstalling the game with my "AVAST!" antivirus disabled fixed the issue for me.

I hope that helps you original poster, or anyone else looking for assistance.

i go all the way to the video of the story line with the labs then when its done the pointer comes up then i hear the vista ding and i go out of the game and i see a minidump error...

what do i do?

You make sure that all of the device drivers for your hardware (sound, video, mainboard etc.) are all up-to-date.

Also make sure you've got the latest game version (1.05)

i disabled my anti virus, ran setup, chose repair, and it worked fine after. ill send any minidump errors in the future thanks.
